Has the new(ish) big picture mode update completely hosed playing non-steam games for anyone else? Since the update whenever I try to launch a non-steam game, steam doesn't switch focus to the game window, and it sets my controller into desktop mode. So even if I grab my keyboard and manually alt-tab into the game window, the pop-up keyboard will randomly show up every time I press the left stick. For similar reasons, now it's pretty much impossible to do in-home streaming with those games.

Played a bit of Dread Templar, seems very cromulent so far. Kind of brown, some inoffensive metal music in the background, I feel like I've been here before many times. But it's fun enough to plug away at bit by bit over a few days I guess. Hopefully it gets a bit more interesting later on, the second episode already is an improvement on the first I think.

Getting around to playing Returnal, and it's kind of funny that it feels a lot more compact and forgiving than I'd expected. Some reviews made it seem like a ball-busting death march, intended to make you piece together the story through dozens of repeated deaths. In practice, I managed to get all the way up to the second boss on my first try, and not because I'm particularly good at this kind of game. Similarly, the game also seems quite forthcoming with its story so far, diving right into the weirdness pretty much from the word go.

We played through The Forest and enjoyed it because it had an alright story you could actually complete. I don't think it was very good as an endless crafting gama ala Valheim or 7 days but for a medium experience it was good.

re: Gedonia After struggling with Zegrath for a while, I then struggled with the warriors' guild epic quest (Protect the caravan from demons) and found out that the skill "Stun" was the answer to that one - but now I hit the wall with Darklands. I'm wearing Kainite armor and weapon and some trinkets from the warriors' guild relics merchant (which are very, very good), but the jump to Darklands feels like a huge step in difficulty. I tried some world bosses and the "destroy the spawning point" event, but the dozens of mobs just annihilate me. I suppose I would need a better weapon, but even with best crafted gear, this place feels like too hard at the moment (granted, I still have the lower right corner zone left to explore - maybe I'll head there next). I'm guessing companion builds would have an easier time, I did try the Diplomat set to go with Starwalker for a while and he did a lot of damage - but I just don't want to give up an armor slot for that.
