Rex take no one asks for - Nino is a quality 3rd liner but makes 4 million a year this year and next. Nashville did a solid job of clearing 4 million in cap while being paid for it. Winnipeg shores up, but somewhat overpaid, their 3rd line scoring for this and next year though being the final year in his contract have some flexibility to then move him on and recover some of that draft capital.

Ron Hextall, by contrast, got gently caress all for Kapanen. Who, rightly, has very little value at 3.2 million a year when his qualifying offer was 1 million. Top notch asset management.

Playoffs are no big deal,
don't have a crap attack.
If you also want to know, Newsy Lalonde tied for top assist getter with 9 assists.

I think this was because of the no forward pass rule.

In a dominant spreadsheet performance the Pens managed to squeak by in overtime, but notably Dumoulin was on the ice for both goals against and 0 goals for and just lol that you expect a team to have this little finish and carry a guy that doesn't score and constantly is scored on.

Markstrom let in the first two shots he faced last night, he actually missed on the first 3 but one hit the post.

I think he saved the 4th shot but I'm not 100% on that... nobody should be subjected to Sutter hockey trailing by 2.

OK actual Meier news. The Canes are out!

EDIT: LeBrun confirms that Grier told the Hurricanes late last night that they are out. That makes sense, they aren't willing to part with Nikishin and they don't really care about extended Meier, so they're not going to offer as much as NJ, but what about Vegas? Can they afford to extend him even with the Weber move? And what kind of assets would they be able to offer that could match a prospect with pedigree of a Holtz or a Seamus Casey?

Beyond "lol the Oilers broke his brain" what's wrong with Markstrom? You don't go from 26 gsaa to -18 gsaa just because Connor did some dangles on you. He was the runner up for the Vezina last year.

Yeah, I don't understand what happened with Markstrom. I thought last year was a career year and that he would probably regress, but regress to maybe a .910, not .880 or whatever he's at now.

Same with Demko, what happened to him?

It really just does look like the Oilers broke his brain.

It doesn’t help that at times he looks like he’s going to return to form and then the defence completely goes to poo poo and then a bunch of high danger chances comes in bunches. Really they should probably send Markstrom down to the AHL and see if winning some games in a row will get some confidence back. Or get a new goalie coach because he doesn’t seem to be doing anything.

Markstrom has let in a goal on the first shot in 7 (is it now 8) games this season. Has to be some kind of record. He is mind boggling bad and it doesn’t help that the team up front can’t score a goal the second they feel any adversity.
