The first mods right when it came out were model swaps, and those mods gave this perfect version of the cutscene:

and the rain scene as well:

If I ever boot it up again I'd love to work those mods in.

TBH these versions fit in much better with the overall storyline of the MGS series.

Yeah this is the one I was referring to. I’d forgot the shower scene.

I mean it is what it is but if a friend or family member walked in while that was going on I’d genuinely just throw my console out of the window.

Anyone playing eso on the deck? I did the start up setting that allows it to install correctly and it runs at 60 fps on medium settings but it randomly hitches and freezes pretty badly.

Closing the launcher once the game is loaded definitely helps some with the hitching.

All of these problems introduced just provided new tools and toys and opportunities to do things about and with, that wouldn't work on the older games designs with predetermined routes with some room for breaking or experimenting.

Trying to approach a new place, you could sprint in to about where you know you're out of range and then start scoping out a path to sneak in. You could roll in with your mini mech to do the same, or have vehicles airdropped in, or hijack one and roll into the base in plain sight. You could also have yourself shipped in a box into the middle of a base from somewhere else on the map. Could also ride your horse but kind of lean away and surprisingly get by more than you think.

Keeping track of enemies is also a big space for gameplay, I bounced a lot between using Quiet as a spotter and d-dog for more interior spaces or close up missions. Quiet was also OP and could single handedly tranq entire bases, with the downside being hearing the same short snippet of a song being hummed repeatedly but never finishing or progressing.

You also just get so many more ways to sneak, distract, and eliminate enemies for every situation it's pretty wild.

One of my favourite missions to complete stealthily involves fultoning a whole tank battalion and escort, having to learn the routes to plant mines or blow up dolls to stall and distract armoured vehicles so you can stick a little balloon on them all without being seen... Probably one of the harder missions to do with best rank but soo satisfying when you finally bag em all.

Yeah that’s the problem, I don’t wanna deal with all that I just wanna sneak around some corridors

Steam button -> you should either see the extra window listed within the game's steam menu, or it's listed as a separate app that's open. Either way, you should be able to use those menus to close it.

It rolls a dice to decide if the device can connect in gaming mode and it spins a wheel to decide if the device can connect in desktop mode.

Official dock. I guess I’m just curious about upscaling? Are there settings I have to fiddle with, or will it take care of that for me?

Official Dock Talk: I have an official dock, and usually use my deck docked with a large LG TV. There is apparently an issue with some LG sets (maybe others too?) where, when I shut down the deck, and then power it up again next time, it won't output anything to my TV. It almost behaves like the dock thinks it is maintaining a link to the TV but the TV just says no HDMI signal.

If you run into this issue, here's what seems to work around the problem for my setup:

Starting with everything powered off,
1. power on TV
2. unplug dock power adapter, plug it back in
3. power on Deck

I bought a little 6-inch male-female USB-C extender cable that I use to make this easier and avoid wear and tear on the Dock PD port since it gets daily use like this!

Sometimes, in a city this dirty, you need a real hero.
I've been off my deck for a while and was wondering if someone could remind me of what steps to take to get the wiiu emulator to think there's a Pro controller connected for a game.

I'm trying to play twilight Princess HD for example but it only lets me select the wiiu controller option and it thinks I've got a second screen for all the menus and stuff

Choosing the pro controller option just gives me a message saying to connect one. .

Assuming you set it up with emudeck Cemu should have one of the back buttons mapped to swap screens for the best of both worlds.

If it doesn't work off the bat there should be some Steam Input control defaults for emudeck, one of them should be for cemu to do the mappings.

VibrantDeck is nice for making the screen nice and poppy.
ProtonDB badges are handy for seeing how 'unsupported' some of the stuff in your library is.
SteamGridDB if you give a poo poo about changing your game art, adding poo poo to non-steam games and generally prettying up your library.
EmuDeck hotkeys is nice if you're doing a lot of emulated stuff to look up what everything is mapped to in the different emulators.

is there a way to tell the Emudeck Wii U emulator you're using a different kind of controller? I feel like I'd be less paranoid about it telling me to use the touchscreen if it thinks I'm holding the pro controller instead of the Wii U gamepad

Thanks. While that's not a deal breaker, the very nature of the game itself might be. I was just seeing if it's viable if I was to try it. My gaming group is one that played Valheim pretty much 2 months straight, every. single. night. I don't mind Valheim at all, had a blast, but I think I might be done with survival games for a while.

Before GZ released there was a lot of "we waited this long for a demo??" but that went away mostly when people realized GZ was super rad (and from the cheaper price tag)

There's a surprising amount of content for it being limited to one "base" as well

I received my Killswitch case today only to realise that, after applying the skin and case, that it doesn't give enough room for the connector on the official dock. Otherwise the case is fantastic, and I'd sorely regret sending it back, but I play with it docked a lot, so this is a major issue. Maybe I was a sucker buying the official dock, I don't know, I'm just sorely disappointed. I've contacted them to see what the best approach is here, I'm even willing to take a file to it and slowly but surely carve a perfect groove into the material, but the fact I need to do that at all is frustrating. Not sure who okayed this, and why they didn't mention it on the store page.

I occasionally need to use it on a laptop for project work and it would be one more thing the deck could replace/one less device to lug around if so.

Not quite sure I get what you mean, but every linux distro can read from/write to SD cards, whether from inbuilt slots or usb adapters, and that usually includes support for a fair range of filesystem format on said card.

Would a USBC to C extender thingy work?

I'm surprised as all gently caress that they didn't account for the official Dock when they released the Killswitch.

Probably. Two things though - I want to make sure the one I'm getting is reliable, actually, 3.2 Gen 2, and that it's small enough to not strain the cable too much. I shouldn't have to do this, and I'm thinking about maybe filing a groove into the thing manually to accommodate, which I also shouldn't have to do.
