in this episode muscular (is it just me or did he used to be called mustard?) is a stand in for the viewer, who wants to watch a cool fight scene and is disappointed when one does not materialize

this sounds pretty down on the episode but i thought it was overall fine

Mustard was the kid from the summer camp attack that was spreading the gas and brought a gun. He was taken down by two of the class B kids.

Muscular Moonfish Mustard were the M trio from camp. Only that last of which wasn't shown being sprung from jail. Wonder where he could be.

I've been enjoying this season a lot but my GF isn't watching it and I've had oeehr things on my mind so I figured I'd take a break. Which I've done since Dabi reveal. Every ep left me on the edge of my seat so I'm wondering if I should just wait tll the season is over and binge it altogether. There's so little...downtime in this season is the thing.

The next season will be the last, though? I guess MHA has gone on longer than I realized. The seasonal approach and stuff makes it all feel so much shorter than most other long runner shounen I know.

The manga still isn’t finished yet (and has been kind of slow going lately thanks to the author having some personal issues) so that’s not entirely guaranteed

I think my favorite part of this episode was Deku fighting Muscular in a totally different way than he did the first time. Just a great showcase of how he’s evolved and outclassed the run of the mill villain

Mustard was also a young kid(I think even younger than the main cast), so maybe he wasn't sent to the same prisons. I always thought it was a bit weird they never did anything more with him. You'd think people would be more curious how a kid ended up falling in with a group of serial killers.

Agreed. I was surprised to see the negative reaction to the fight here, since I feel like that was the only way it could go. Deku already beat the guy before but at huge cost to his body, and since then he's had several life and death encounters, a ton of training, and gained actual literal new powers. A one hit fight against an enemy previously seen as a huge threat is how you show growth.

Muscular jobbing to Deku was the only correct way to go, I don't want to see Deku still struggle against a guy from three seasons ago if we're at the end game.

I remember when this came up in the manga and IIRC the expectation was that it would be a repeat of the last fight except with Deku easily overpowering Muscular just to demonstrate how much stronger he'd physically become, but in retrospect I do like that he ends up styling on him in a completely different way that shows off how he's grown as a tactician

I’d say good because you got some really great action shots of Fa Jin and Deku doing some smashes. It was a lot clearer than what was put out in the manga at the very least

I would call it better handled than Season 5 so far at least (and I haven’t heard of any upcoming movies this time that could mess up the schedule)

This is basically the first episode they actually bothered animating and it retroactively makes even the good/okay episodes of the season look like poo poo.

It felt like the sports arch from way back when. Much smoother and kinetic then we have seen in a long while.

I also liked the very subtle reference to Deku’s image training when he used Fa Jin to catch up to Nagant’s bullet. If he can imagine it, he can do it. At least that’s one thing that’s been consistent throughout

NGL I teared up a little bit during that.

This season is shaping up to be up there as one of the best. The last time episodes hit like this was what? Maybe the school festival arc? Its been a while.

I do kind of wish Vigilante Deku lasted a bit longer. I feel like it loses a little impact when it turns out Deku was only out there for like two weeks.

Then again I guess it also reinforces just how unhealthy that path is that he burned out pretty quickly that way
