It does seem like a lose-lose situation. Do investors seem concerned? If you address it, you've validated that it's a concern and you'll get pummeled. If you ignore it, investors will assume you're hiding something and you'll still get pummeled.

Although the stock price eating poo poo often happens because the bank is insolvent or having a run, which could impact depositors depending on how nice the fed is feeling if the bank fails.
