I think TARP may very well be the last financial action that was subject to The Discourse

the first tranche got voted down initially in the House, due to an unholy alliance between lefties & the GOP.

but then obama came out for it during the heat of the 2008 election & paved the way for him to give away even more in subsequent tranches once he was president. That was enough to get congress to fall in line with wall street.

remember that email given to wikileaks from pre-election 2008 in which some citi toady is filling the obama admin ranks with wall streeters, most of whom were subsequently hired by obama?

I remember hyperbolic descriptions of them coming out out of the meeting literally shaking irl & white as sheets (even the black & hispanic members).

Maybe we need more dumb headlines that get people riled up, instead of endless "everything is fine actually" poo poo while the balogna gets stolen one slice at a time.

Looks like FRC got a rescue package from some of the bigger banks. A lot of the chip stocks are popping too. Apparently housing developers are starting to gear up a bit more, which might drive down rent-driven inflation somewhat.

Maybe any of this or something we don't know about set off ~the algorithim~.

This really fucks with people who have been banking PTO for a payout when they leave the job and/or retire, too.

Isn't banked PTO another bennie, like pensions, that's been relegated to pretty much union-only workers these days?

I got banked PTO when I was working for the state government, didn't need to join an union for that, but, yeah, mostly teachers and public service these days I guess.

this whole money thing is a disaster. the fab should pay for things they need to build out productive capacity in IOUs for chips. the construction crews, hvac guys, equipment providers, can then use those IOUs for their future integrated circuit needs, or trade them further on for other goods.

the slips could say something like "this note is legal tender for all chips public and private" and then the inflation problem goes away

Switzerland is airlifting 54 billion to Credit Suisse since yesterday and after the US Infinite Bailout on Monday we are now printing 2 trillion more dollars and major banks are moving to bail out specific smaller banks that are in trouble.

It'll either work or it won't but the money printer is on again so we are headed for worse inflation and higher rates.
