Do you think the WSJ still pays for design/art, or did they fire everyone and go straight to generative images to improve margins?

So ripple, the payroll company not identified here that almost didn't pay everyone because they used the one bank.

They're totally out of business right and everyone's off them now right?

Hasn't what Switzerland had to do to rescue Credit Suisse another sign that European regulators aren't all that? Or does this get distinguished because Switzerland isn't in an EU member?

And it sounds like at least some Euro regulators interviewed by the FT understand us Yanks.

quote:

Others, however, are more understanding of Washington’s approach, arguing that not fully bailing out depositors would have risked broader peril.

“If unsecured depositors are not protected it can be the overall confidence that is eroded and you can easily be creating contagion to other banks,” said a resolution head at a eurozone regulator. “This case seems to be the perfect proof of this.”

And also, the vibe I'm getting from the complainers in that FT article is that they just didn't want to get criticized by the US for their own past bailouts.

American hypocrisy shouldn't be a surprise. If their own regulatory regimes would have prevented a SVB-like failure from happening, then good for them.

so am I getting it right that they were afraid that not bailing out SVB and Signature would cause people to take their money out of smaller banks and put them into larger too big to fail banks?

And then after bailing out SVB and Signature, the end result is that people are taking their money out of smaller banks and putting them into larger ones anyway?

I posted earlier in the thread about how I filed my tax return in very early February and it got hung up for some reason - looked at the return and for some reason HR Block claimed a social security overpayment credit which usually only applies to people working more than two jobs in a year. Figured I fat-fingered something and I'd get a dirty letter from the IRS saying I owe them $X and to submit a check.

they deposited that return today anyway so who knows what the gently caress
