I really want to like Gorod but every album has the guitar sound like Jorn Lande singing guitar noises and I, in my weakness, cannot get past it It's like the bad old days of Jordan Rudess's synth patches

So it turns out the squishmallows were for the opening band, seven kingdoms. Anyway Powerwolf was incredible, Attila sounded just as amazing live and they were super high energy. So glad they finally came to the US!

New Torsofuck. https://morbidgenerationrecords.bandcamp.com/album/torsofuck-postpartum-exstasy I probably could have done without track #2 being 80% the trailer to Dr. Jekyll's Dungeon of Death but the rest of this disc is absolutely high quality extremely putrid slamming GoreGrind. Worth the 19 year wait between albums.

It was a super small venue, and they still absolutely ripped, did an encore, etc. I had a blast - the crowd at my show was like 60% greybeards so it was pretty chill for a death metal show too.

more like 72 Seasons Total Landscaping Actually I like it, at first I was like "oh another one of these songs, ok" but the chorus and the bridge key change won me over. They do need to find some new riff patterns though, but I mean, they're old dogs so that probably won't be happening.

Yeah, my gut reaction to 72 Seasons is that it's not bad, but not great either. It's just alright. Metallica in cruise control. Not exactly writing any new chapters for their formidable legacy, but not the kind of embarrassment they'd trod the floorboards of in the past. There are worse fates for a mainstream hard rock/metal band, I suppose.

Caught Lorna Shore on their only northeast headline show of their new tour last night, in loving Albany of all places (my friend who runs the club was very, very proud of getting that booking) and uh, y'all, holy poo poo, what a show.
