"Organic" means carbon-based, so these are perfectly natural.

The others are correct in this thread. She’s probably extremely angry at the judgement and genuinely believes we owe her $14,500 and the court system hosed over the little landlord again!!!

imo

1.) it's really common in small claims to get a split the baby judgement and then get a legally reasonable one after appeal

2.) it is virtually impossible you will ever be asked to pay anything remotely approaching what the landlady thinks you owe

3.) your lawyer is going to give you better legal advice than this thread

that said, it's 300 bucks so who really cares

is the lawyer free? if not, that should be factored into the appeal analysis. no clue how good/reputable the lawyer is, but they could be in it for fees. but if the lawyer fees are taken care of somehow, there’s no real downside to an appeal.

could you just stiff her on the 300? I mean it’ll probably cost her more than $300 just to go through the trouble of collect on it, but not sure if you’re concerned about about your credit rating taking a hit or not.

An appeal can still backfire if the judge forces you to pay.

this is why nyc bought a ton of land in the highlands of its watershed and built a giant system of gravity filled reservoirs and aqueducts so that it could not worry about drinking industrialized river water. the delaware was significantly less polluted in its past than the hudson afaik but it seems bad for a major modern city on the lower course of a river with hundreds of possible contamination vectors to just slurp out of their river for drinking water idk im no engineer

The hole isn’t that deep. We’ve paid the lawyer a few hundred bucks for filing and advice fees. You have to represent yourself in small claims court in California, so it’s not like they can charge for court appearances or anything.

I’m not digging. I said I would ask him for more details and questions to really make sure we fully understand the risk/reward ratio for appealing is all. If the risk is too high we will walk away and just pay the insane landlady.

Internet Archive says there is a physical library with their books in it and users cant rent books they don't have. the publishers say they used to have the physical books, but don't anymore. it's kind of like stablecoins in a way.
