Infinotize posted:Lastly part of the reason I got the CX5 is because it was supposed to be fun, and well, it's not. I think I bought into reviews of it too much but after owning it a couple of years I'm just not going to find a CUV entertaining. When I was shopping crossovers a decade ago, I came to the same conclusion. Sure, the CX-5 is more fun than other similarly priced crossovers, but that's an extremely low bar and the CX-5 barely clears it. I ended up buying a CR-V instead because it was a much better deal for the same feature set.

I found the macan to just feel like a really nice crv - i test drove an S (meh) and recently a GTS on track - which was very fast (think i hit 140 at njmp) but I still don't understand people calling it a rally car - just feels like a very nice crossover with a great interior. However I did drive it back to back both times with 911's - when I test drove the S i also drove a 997 S, and when I drove the GTS i drove a 992 GTS, so definitely clouded my judgement.

My last car was a '03 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The dealer had 2 on the lot, the V-6 and the V-8, I made the mistake of driving the V-8 first and that was that.

Humphreys posted:I hope that isnt a crack but I fear it is. Fun update: no cracks but the wheel has a barely perceptible flat spot. The tyre shop have stuck like 15 kilos of wheel weights onto the rim but as soon as you're north of 70mph you can feel vibration throughout the cabin and through the steering wheel. There are a couple of places that claim they can true it, which is preferable to spunking £500 on a new rim. Again, gently caress this shithole country's dogshit road network and feudal local council funding formulas.

Oh and I am irrationally pissed at losing a self levelling centre cap because it's £100 for 4 and you can't buy them individually.

I wanted to move some cars around today; since spring is around the corner I wanted the S2000 accessible. So all of my cars (minus the wife and kid’s cars) were outside at the same time. You can juuuuuust see the Acty beyond the blue EM1.

I did something stupid - I spent $3000 on a 33-year-old car. Xpost from What Did You Do To Your Ride: It's a 1990 Toyota Camry wagon. 2.5L V6, 2VZFE engine. Automatic, front wheel drive. Just over 76,000 miles. Owned for 95% of its life by an older lady who only sold it once she was too old to drive it. There's a sticker that claims the timing belt was done in 2004 so that'll be second on the to-do list as long as there's no major issues. The front tires are from 1999 so I elected to get it towed to the Toyota dealership where I work. It'll get a full inspection to see what it needs to be roadworthy. I've wanted a 90s wagon for years and this thing was so clean and so reasonably priced that I couldn't say no. More pics to come as I begin to tinker. New wheels for the JCW I had to get a set of camber plates to dial in a little bit of camber so the front wheels wouldn't poke out from under the fender but I'm really happy with how they came out.

Thanks, The wheels are a dark bronze color, I think it goes well with the red to sliver transition in the multitone roof paint.

Figured folks might enjoy the car I've been building over the past year or so. In February 2022 I bought a 2003 Toyota Crown Athlete V, a huge grandpa wagon with a 1jz-gte. The car was bone stock but well looked after by the guy who imported it. I'm not gonna go through the build step by step because I don't have a good photo trail due to losing my space to work on vehicles last spring. The plan was to build a spicy daily that was super responsive round town, reliable and I wasn't too worried about sacrificing top end power or max hp. I've ended up with something looking a bit nicer It's actually sitting about 10mm lower than this now and has a more aggressive alignment but I haven't taken any photos lately because winter. Engine bay also looking nice and understated. Final build is a hybrid ct15b turbo, completely custom intake and exhaust, big Fenix rad and intercooler, standalone Link G4X Fury, significantly upgraded fueling, and a full chassis tune up with coilovers, rollbars, big brakes and full polybushing. Making a little over 400hp with boost coming in at 2500rpm means it's disgustingly responsive. Oh the brakes have cool custom paint that matches the dumb puddle lights I got on Wish, because stupid details matter. As a final aside if you're thinking of running your 1j with 3" shotguns, do not. See this? This is what the end of the world sounds like. I lasted a week before getting a backbox built.

I did two things yesterday, and get to redo half of them today. The guy who did the labor forgot the flappy paddles on the GT350 wheel swap, so that's coming back off tonight, and i might have enough time to swap the new wheels on. Luckily the wheel is a 15 minute job.
