i would say what you probably need to work on is the fact that he's mad at the wrong people and things that he believes are threatening him and his way of life, and instead of powerless people like trans people and immigrants or whatever he should be mad at the people doing stuff to him. already being mad at libs is a good start but hes probably mad at the wrong libs

Honestly, if you read up about the Salvation Army literally marching down Wall Street in their bands, intimidating bankers and singing about the rot at the heart of capitalism, that would be a giant step up for DSA.

"When Guys and Dolls opened, Salvationists still played lunch-hour concerts on Wall Street and pounded the bass drum along the Great White Way. In winter the tinkle of their bells was an unmistakable call to help the poor—just as their radio and television broadcasts reminded listeners of their need for donations."

Where is the DSA even a fraction of this publicly visible?

Atheist communism is the way of DSA. Christian socialism is anathema

Yes this means they ignore that 99% of politicians are religious and just refuse to connect with them or the myriad groups that have extremely valuable tax free real estate and buildings in fantastic locations , because some southern evangelicals a million miles away are despicable

That's good and smart. They should do more of that

I'm biased because the church I attend very infrequently was the one Frances e Willard went to , so there's a really strong legacy of how it can be used for social change. The tax free prime location is no joke for gatherings, though

I have legit said this to him, and he gets real mad about how unfair it is to people who work really hard and have "small" business. I know all the same business owners that he does. None of them have over a $100 million, and usually the richer they are the more they're kind of assholes.

other thing he always brings up is how "big government" isn't effective at doing anything.

I bring up social security and medicare and he just says it will be gone by the time he's qualified. (he's 40).

Literally I watched him go from a tie died haired teen who had co exist bumper sticker and then he bought a truck, started listening to country music and got into guns and it was a quick slide into standard conservative bullshit from there.

The no college didn't help things I don't think.

Thanks thread. Answers have been helpful so far. what about the argument that it was the covid "hand outs" that lead to all of this inflation? I know it's bullshit, but you all are more on the ball of swatting away this poo poo quickly.

The downfall of education is complicated but a lot has also to do with the crime scares and suburbanization of the 80/90s and kids being fed to private /charter school with "gifted/genius programs", Waldorf schools, and other junk which took a lot of funding out of public schools.

Bad parenting is pretty bad now with parents expecting everyone but them to do the parenting so you end up with uncontrollable kids.

It kinda isn't bullshit. The "hand out" that has had the most direct impact on inflation was the PPP loans. The high inflation has numerous causes.

1. Fed printing which blew up all asset classes
2. PPP loan and subsequent forgiveness
3. Supply chains hosed due to covid and general deterioration
4. Deglobalization
5. USA citizens having their insatiable urge to consume cranked to the max due to "covid lockdowns"
6. Price gouging

I'm willing to bet funding has never been higher and more funding isn't going to help anything

Also that parenting getting worse is happening at the same time everyone lost stable careers and both spouses needed to work outside the house. Weird, huh

Thankfully all that has been addressed by having everyone validate each other's lived experiences , forever, without doing anything else

Gifted programs are a scam that deprives everyone else not on the right 'track' of peer role models while *also* loving up the socialization of the 'gifted' kids. Destroy all gifted programs, ban all charters

Parents would, in general, like to do better but have been led to believe that they aren't fit for the task. They aren't (usually) offloading on to others because they don't want to do it, they are offloading because society has convinced them they are either incapable of doing a good job *or* that time spent with their kids is time they should be spending on earning money instead. Don't blame parents for growing up in hell world and not being properly equipped to be parents.
