My Gorgonum stubber has 25% unyielding and 25% carapace (locked), reckon I should swap for crit chance? Overwhelming Fire III and Charmed Reload III (locked). Hoping to get blaze away on it but I only currently have it on my Krourk and don't want to trash it for the blessing yet.

You absolutely need to swap the Unyielding damage for Crit % asap. The difference between no crit chance and even 4% is huge, you go from having to reload constantly to running out of targets typically.

Also tbh I've been repeating this elsewhere but Blaze Away is kinda trash now because it takes too long to get going, and as soon as you stop firing for any reason (aside from maybe reloading an empty mag, need to test) you lose all the stacks.

Test it yourself in the Psykanium of you have blaze away on any gun and be amazed at how finicky it is.

I agree Blaze Away usually isn't great, but there isn't much in the way of competition. Once you get even one stack it's equal in effectiveness as a fully stacked Overwhelming Fire, and there are definitely cases where you can just lay down sustained fire against multiple elites. Where it really shines is against bosses, where reaching +50% power is quite viable.

I'd refine the Unyielding to Flak. If you're using a Stubber, you won't be meleeing elites too often. As for Blessing, definitely switch the Unstoppable Force. There's little reason to use heavy attacks with a mk3.

There are 14 maps, but for whatever reason they thought it would be a good idea to make you crisscross the same areas across different maps, which makes them more samey and confusing to remember which version of the area you are playing on.

That and there only being 4 "biomes" of "hive city" "fancy hive city" "sunny desert" and "industrial"

They're functional and have some great setpieces, but between the repeating geometry, similar objectives, and the bizarre lack of a "final" map, the environments end up feeling lacking compared to the great stuff we got in Vermintide. I suspect maps were supposed to be randomized at one point in development.

I made a series of bad investments. Tarantula farm. The bottom fell out of the market.

I wouldn't even mind reusing all the same assets if we could get them in new configurations. Sometimes going through a copied room feels unique enough to not matter, but sometimes it's just a bummer.

Ideally though, we get some environments that feel visually distinct from what we have so far

I do love the intro to one of the maps, the name of which I can't recall, on lights out mode. You get dropped off onto a dark path with flashes of lightning that turn out to be arcing electricity from the miles of machinery in the walls above you illuminating things briefly. Very reminiscent of scenes of the underground machine tunnel wasteland depicted in The Matrix.

Yeah IIRC I was quickly rolling it up between missions with waiting buddies and got max unyielding and just left it, I'll aim to swap it for max crit tonight - thanks!

Unyielding to Flak, alright I'll work on rolling that. As for Unstoppable Force I currently don't have Momentum available which is what I'd like to put in there, I don't really have better options plus I am heavy swinging to proc bleeds and toughness regen, and the bleeds also proc my damage reduction. It does seem to help with CCing and damaging multiple big boys at one time too which is nice, don't always have a psyker with good CC and I find myself having to hit armored big dudes more frequently than is probably ideal. But with all that said once I get Momentum 3 or 4 I'll swap out.

Oh also also, last night I swapped my Bull Rush causes bleeds feat to the doubled distance and knockdown all except monstrosities which seems nicer going into the harder stuff but I also have to be very careful and not yolo a charge too far with it :v: (yes charge cancel but sometimes OGRYN)

edit:
I'd love a tool to easily export your feats and loadout for sharing, does that exist in mod form at all?

I like how the intro cinematic says "in the future man's galactic empire wages inconceivably large wars across myriad worlds with super soldiers against incredible alien forces" and shows you sweet warp travel with demons jump-scaring guardsmen and then p much literally says "however, we won't be involved in any of that; we're shooting zombies in a factory"

Yeah you'll have a hard time convincing me that chaos wastes was not them originally prototyping for Darktide, especially with the way it just came out of nowhere.

And if it was, it was a great success! everyone loved it! the only downside was a long time commitment where nobody could leave or you'd be stuck with bots, but that could always be adjusted.

Imagine if they brought it back in darktide as a string of maps, starting with low intensity maps and ending on double modifiers and each time you succeed you got to vote on the next area to choose with your team, bring back the magic powers and passives gained during missions you keep until the end, go nuts with it.

Left4Dead had no loot crafting or RNG item drops, vermintide felt like a better game with all of that tossed aside in chaos wastes, darktide would be a better game for it too if it ditched all this junk.

Just played a 'normal' heresy mission that was definately a high-int mission without the label on it. It was fun as hell but it was not a 'normal' mission, lots of double bursters, like 4 disablers spawning at the same time, it was really nonstop. I'm wondering if that old bug is back.

Ra Ra Rasputin

Played a low intensity mission, lost a person right before the halfway event and it spawned them at the location -after- beating the event and taking the elevator... ok, annoying but no problem, we beat it and go up the elevator.

What proceeds is the largest swarm of crushers and ragers and bulwarks mixed into a horde I have ever seen on any damnation game and that was only the first wave of them, all that and the 4th person was still a few rooms away after the elevator.

We wiped when the 3 mutants and 2 trappers and 2 poxbursters showed up from a spawn door 5 feet behind us while we were halfway through dealing with that pile of 100k armored hitpoints inside a horde.

Where was your purgatus pysker? Seriously with the perk that gives you higher damage at high peril means you will loving utterly destroy hordes even with elites in it.

The spawn bugs def in game, we had 6 bursters in a row on heresy without any modifiers and to make it worse only the first one made noise while 5 just piled out one after another from a loving doorway. I thankfully rerolled the weekly mission about completing without someone going down.

I run the +damage from high peril, soul blaze jumps feat, warp charges from friends feat, and the level 30 gain warp charges from soul blaze so i'm getting huge damage spikes. The flame thrower was stun locking crushers on heresy so i kept blazing away at the horde non stop and eventually everything died. The light attack will also stun most things too so you can use it to clear spaces in hordes to keep pressure off allies.

I suppose it'd scale up to Damnation fine but man Crushers get A Lot of HP even just going up the one difficulty. I don't have an ideal Purgatus staff though so maybe that could change.

Fellow Surge staffers, what is your evaluation of the DPS versus bosses? I didn't try it for ages because I perceived it as a low damage staff best used for CC, but after getting my nice damage roll one I zapped a Beast of Nurgle and a traitor captain a bunch and I felt like them health bars was really moving. Shame bosses don't spawn in the danger room so I can watch without other player damage inputs confusing me.

Is Surge good against bosses? If so, is it better DPS, or DPS per peril, than brain bursts? My limited experience makes me think yes to both.

Outgoing damage (ie my lightning Bolts) is irrelevant. Stopping incoming damage with the stun and grouping up dorks is way more important.

I'm always last for damage, but first for crits. I have made my peace with this.

Veteran shotgun collection: Complete

Oddly-enough I keep going back to the OG shotgun for Damnation maps. I love the Agripinaa's special shot but the slow load rate and wimpy primary become huge detriments when your group gets swarmed (which is all the time). The Kantrael is likely the best-performing out of all three, however the wide spread and TINY ammo supply hurt it during long firefights against gun-toting enemies (which you end up doing a lot of on Damnation). The Lawbringer gives you great ranged fire and powerful impact damage up-close, though the special shot is straight-up a waste of ammunition on anything besides walkers (which you shouldn't be using your ammo on anyways).
