Exploration is ill-advised.
Wonder how much is 'sparsely populated and rich' vs 'sparsely populated and poor'.

Bake don't fry. Healthier and ensures your home doesn't smell like poo poo.

Cut russet potatoes into your favorite shape. I usually do steak fry or thick traditional fry shapes. Toss with olive oil. Hit with spice blend. I am partial to Montreal steak seasoning. Put on parchment paper and get them in the oven at 400 for 40 minutes, flipping once after ~25 minutes. Cook to desired doneness.

You can also do poo poo like boiling them before baking but it's not worth the time IMO.

The ones in the NW tend to be pretty poor and rural. Can’t imagine there are many doctors left out there either, let alone specialists.

That area of Nevada is a bunch of small settlements that can be generously called “towns” separated by like 30 miles of desert. Super poor and probably horrible healthcare access.

You can also see a dark blue blip right in the “angle” of Nevada on the west and that’s Lake Tahoe, so it’s probably a bunch of ultra rich lol.

Govt regs changed a while ago and drove the small farmers out of business. You have to have a climate controlled storage facility for them now instead of just piling them up in a big barn
I thinkt this changed around the end of Obama's term but just another way that good intentions of less rotting food meant more ability for the mega Corp to fix prices

Sounds like one of those ill thought out liberal "solution". There's so many potatoes piling up theyre rotting, so we'll mandate they be stored in a climate controlled facility. Why are there not enough potatoes now, less are rotting!!!

Somehow capitalism turns food preservation technology into another way to fix prices

It seem more like big agribusiness would do this even without regulation. I'm curious if mandating it allows business to demand more federal funding to refurbish old store houses though. I can't find any news about this regulation though.
edit: There are USDA recommendations and research on commercial food storage though, and that has tables on refrigeration. Could be USDA published recommendations in 2013 that more farms are following.

lol $750k is basically some spare change in the couch to these places. I wasn't joking about needing to donate a building just to be noticed.

You talk to people who work in these places and it's mind-boggling how dysfunctional they are internally, but they have so much money flying around that it doesn't matter. Basically the organizational equivalent of someone buying a new car every time the old one gets dirty.

Access to the proceeds of the hedge fund is extremely limited. The donors set very specific limitations on the use of the money which hamstrings everything despite the absurd size of the endowments

Nearly all snacks are skyrocketing in price while having their packaging shrunk down and the ingredients/recipes changed. I got a box of Wheat Thins Bigs the other week to use for a dip -- it was like $5 for 8oz and the chips are half as thin as they used to be. I'm just not gonna bother anymore with pretty much anything processed.
