This right here. And it's easy as gently caress to put it on Deck, too.

Heres how you can tell if its real or fake: Is it tied to a special Sony Memory card that is "Definitely not an SD Card ™️" that is basically just a proprietary SD card?

The quality is pretty garbage on a good network as well. Especially when you're used to Moonlight levels of quality.

I should also specify that it's not chiakis fault, its like that on the official Sony clients too.

I played 100 hours of MW2 on my Deck, via Chiaki from a PS5. I've got a great connection, was in the same room as the router, and I tinkered with the Chiaki settings a bunch - but it worked like magic. Maybe it says something about the MW2 netcode, but I also did pretty good, score-wise?

And I put waaaay more hours into FF14 via PSPlay on my Samsung Galaxy S20 w/ controller grip/Backbone thingies.

Sony's high as hell with this poo poo - unless they release it for under $150 and market it to iPhone users. Then they could hit some iOS folks - I can think of a few friends who have kids and remote play would be way easier for them, but they don't feel like tinkering with settings.

Maybe there's a market for this? Oh, maybe that PS themed Backbone was their test?

Here's my Chiaki settings, if these help at all:

720p
60 fps
Bitrate 17500 (go down to 10000 if you gotta)
Codec h265 (h264 was pretty much the same)
Audio buffer 19200
Hardware decode method: vaapi

I've played a shitload of PS remote play on Vita, PC and Deck. It's definitely awesome! I just meant the quality is really not up to par when you're used to streaming via Moonlight or Parsec.

Checking in, what are y'all playing?

Peglin is crack. I'm on Cruciball 5. The lack of integer scaling still bugs me a little, and the dev didn't respond. Can't stop playing.

In Final Fantasy XIV I got my crafters and gatherers to level 90! The Deck is perfect for throwing on a movie and just hitting that grind.

In Jade Cocoon: Story of Tamamayu I'm two forests in. Running with the Beetle PSX HW core messing with enhancements. Dumping textures as I play, and it looks like this wouldn't be an easy one to do upscaled textures for the backgrounds. Character portraits, fonts, and model textures would be easy.
With reliable fast forward and rewind, I can't imagine a better way to be revisiting and catching up on old PSX RPGs. Racing Lagoon was a treat. Legend of Dragoon or Vagrant Story may be next.

The gaming PC is pretty much just for Elden Ring at this point.

Just wrapped up Signalis - good short indie game from last year. Will be moving on to Ace Combat 7 and then Dwarf Fortress with Valheim in between.

Valheim is an extremely chill and pleasant game and a good break from the stress Ready Or Not, Signalis and Elden Ring which is what I was rotating through recently.

I dunno if its a firmware update, game update or Cryotools but XIV runs like a dream at 1080 / 30 so my old (windows) tv pc is pretty much redundant besides doing patching stuff that linux can't do (which is slowly becoming less by the day).

Other than that Ship of Harkinin and IX.

Some combination of turning off FXAA and CryoTools (probably mostly the former) seems to have made FF14 now run at a smooth 60fps (though it might drop around large numbers of NPCs, haven't tested that - I've just been flying around a zone and fighting a few things). Before it was around 45-50.

I 1000% am. I’ve already pulled down probably 300+ hours already on Chiaki4Deck but I still would buy a Sony device if I could reliably remote play outside of the home. Even with the correct opened ports and everything I have no luck there.

Chiaki has been amazing to use while I watch things with my wife or while I work though.

RE4 Remake. Peglin is in fact a very bad game, though. Cruciball 9 or 10 can go to hell.

Finished Arkham Blackgate late week, it was pretty good.

Just finished The Messenger last night and now doing the DLC for it. Next up will probably be Peace Walker HD via PCS3, since there's no really good way to play MGS3 with decent quality of life upgrades, the 3DS version doesn't run on Deck. Either that or I'll finish Mad Max or start Yakuza 0.

Currently playing GTA: Online with my wife and friends every single night. We completely botched the casino heist last night, but we're trying again tonight.

I was initially playing it at around 30-40fps, with the very occasional crash (sometimes, I'd get a windows popup that said Out of Memory), but after turning down some of the ridiculous and unnecessary graphic settings (idgaf about proper reflections), it's running MUCH better now.

Looks like the Steam version has the added DS dungeons (poo poo), higher-res graphics (can't tell the difference), and autosave (possibly helpful depending on use case) so on balance I'd say emulate unless you're gonna be interrupted a lot

The PC port is a lot better than it used to be but the SNES version is the way to go. The PC version has an updated translation but the SNES has a pretty good one anyways. And while the PC version also has the extra stuff from the DS port, at best it's nothing to write home about and at worst it's time-wasting filler.

Mostly playing Brotato because it’s so great for short bursts. When I have more time it’s Elden Ring. It’s amazing how well Elden Ring plays on this thing while still looking really good. I actually prefer playing it on SD to playing it on my gaming PC, because on the PC there are stutters all over the place but somehow the SD doesn’t have that problem. Very impressive.
