whats "not perfectly smoothly"? I think leaving early in games is not necessarily the worst choice when teamplay indicates a wipe and try again with a different group

Agreed. The regular Force Sword can actually clear hordes quite well with a Slaughterer blessing, given its high headshot multiplier and the thrust attack that skewers several zombie skulls at once in a heavily stacked crowd. Now take a wild guess how viable that is when everything is face-down on the ground, scattered in a circle around you.

Two examples I remember from last night. One guy goes down, within 5 seconds that guy altf4s and becomes a bot. Another game someone goes down, a totally different player sees that happen and altf4s to become a bot.

Just absolutely no willingness to try.

And it stood out to me because all my previous damnation games probably had as many leavers as I had in my handful of games last night - typically I've seen players try hard and work to carry in 5s. Maybe it was an off night for the gods of random chance I dunno.

Generally I only see leavers in situations where they think the run is about to end. Why they wouldn't stay to collect rewards I don't know. Have to remember that the game still crashes for people too, so some of what you're seeing could be unrelated crashes.

Yeah it's certainly possible some of them were random crashes, probably more mobs and effects results in more crashes plus just random chance.

Oh well, in less just bitching news, loving my slaughterer 4, deflector 4 Deimos force sword. I'm fairly new to having the deflector blessing and with the peril block feat it is so clutch for contested pickups.

I would not put too many assumptions to it. Like I had people disappear (on normal 5/hi int) who just a minute prior actively pressed "ready" in the lobby and from my own experience sometimes when the game crashed I'd just call it a day and not gonna start it up immediately again. But I feel like especially on the top-tier difficulty that is hi int STG 5 I would (should) quit rather sooner then later. Tried 3 games today and 2 of them were obvious wipes almost from the get go. No one quit, I didnt either but there was no harmony and it was kinda struggle from the beginning on which is always a bad sign.

Question about Zealot in VT2. It's a class where you want to keep your health as low as possible for the buffs. Someone said that Zealot using healing bandages on another player will clear the Zealot's own wound as well without healing them up.

Is this a Zealot exclusive ability?

Yeah those two specific examples I gave the timing would have been pretty suspect for random crashes but the others certainly could have been.

I think part of it is playstyle preference I guess? Like I'm very much a "I ain't heard no bell" type so I'll try as hard as possible to make it a W versus quitting to fish for a better team. Would probably be more optimal if fatshark gave some more of the collected materials on mission failure.

yeah same, I try to make it work most of the time. Only sometimes it is too obvious that it will not work out and I leave. For example when people running about in hi intensity missions not giving the slightes gently caress about coherency or teammates which ofc leads to downings and the inevitable wipe eventually. Even worse in STG when one persone most often is not able to hold of a constant stream of specials.

IIRC bandages always clear wounds for both the user and recipient. I think it was patched in at some point a long time ago?

I will generally leave if I'm downed and it looks like I won't be rescued, but mostly because I figure it's more helpful for my team to have a not-downed bot than a downed teammate

there's definitely a sweaty segment of the player base who will get killed or even just downed and then disconnect and reconnect to get replaced by a bot and then resume control of it. I wanna tell them it's not that serious, play on your phone for a minute or two until you get revived instead of meta gaming this very casual comp stomp game

When you chainsaw a target you technically connect for like 3 damage and then begin the ripping and tearing which means that while your Zealot charge gives the whole thing crit your +25% bonus is entirely used and wasted on the 3 damage initial hit? This can't be as intended.

They patched it so the zealot bonus properly applies to multi-hit melee special attacks like that so slash away

Psyker
Raising Soulblaze’s damage vs. flak armour to 150% (was previously 100%).
Dev Note: “We have now separated the burning DoT and Soublaze DoT armour modifiers to enable this change.”

Increasing the Psyker’s “Wrack and Ruin” Feat number of Soulblaze stacks from 3 to 4.

Weapons
Tweaked the hit zone priority for Rashad Mk II Combat Axe.

M35 Magnacore Mk II Plasma Gun:

Venting damage is now absorbed by toughness at a 3x rate.

M35 Magnacore Mk II Plasma Gun now ignores hit zone multipliers for anything that is not a monstrosity.

Dev Note: “This means that the M35 Magnacore Mk II Plasma Gun can now damage Bulwarks through their shield, and body shots on enemies will not be able to be blocked by their limbs.”

Enemies
Added lag compensation to Pox Hound pounce attack to make it easier for players with higher ping to dodge their attacks.

Reduced the pause between spawns of other enemies while Pox Hounds from the Hunting Grounds condition are active on higher difficulties.

Dev Note: “Specialists and Horde spawns are no longer paused on Heresy/Damnation difficulty, resulting in a higher possibility of a mixture of spawns when a hunting grounds event is active. The intent is to provide a wider range of challenges on higher difficulties instead of forcing the same behavior every time we spawn Hunting Grounds Pox Hounds.”

Reduced melee stagger resistance on Poxbursters during their lunge animations so that melee attacks can stagger Poxbursters more reliably.

Tweaked Poxbursters so that they reset their stagger immune time when they lunge at players.

Dev Note: “This should fix cases where Poxbursters sometimes ignored staggers when another player shot at it just before it entered its lunge animation.”

Changes to Mutants:
Tweaked the Mutant charge turn values in order to avoid instant turns

Tuned Mutant navigation to be a bit smoother

Tuned Mutant rotation speed to be a bit slower, allowing for easier dodging

Increased Mutant stun time when hitting walls from 3 seconds to 3.5 seconds

Other Fixes and Tweaks
Implemented changes to the vote kick system:

This will now display as a notification instead of a pop-up

Added measures to counter players’ ability to spam vote kick.

Added full toughness recovery when players get revived from being knocked down in order for the rescued player to have some space to get back into the action.

Added a 5-second spawn grace when players spawn, where enemies can’t see them, and they’re invincible.

Dev Note: “This was added to make it less jarring to join an ongoing game and immediately get downed by enemies without giving the player time to react to the situation.”

Have they mentioned anything about new maps being added? I played this again last night with the whole crew for the first time in a while and when my friend asked what changed I struggled to think of anything beyond them finishing the crafting system and balance changes with I think a couple new weapons. We played the same map twice because the first time it crashed for all of us 5 minutes from the end of the level, and there were no other maps on the difficulty we wanted so we just had to do the same one again. The game still feels great to play but man, the lack of variety in the levels combined with having to play the maps/conditions that are available at that time makes it kind of a lovely experience sometimes.

My personal hope is that they've been putting just balance and other QoL stuff out in order to really make sure they can make the next big content patch super big. My fingers are crossed it'll involve new classes and new maps along with the rumoured genestealer cult faction.

Fatshark has done a pretty bang up job with rebalancing or outright changing bad feats and weapons so they've earned just enough good will for me to remain patient. If by summer they haven't pulled anything off though even I'll be giving them the side eye a bit.

They've added 2 maps since the beta, a bunch of weapons, and a bunch of "modifiers" for the maps. Other than that content has been pretty sparse, but they were focused on trying to fix all the crashes and poo poo which were making it a very hard game for people to play. Anecdotally I still crash on my 4090 sometimes but for the most part its crash free. I still never crash on my 1080 laptop.

There is going to be a "content drop" at the end of May, and another big re-balance patch at the beginning of May. Now that the game is in a good state I hope they start bringing in the content that was supposed to be on their original roadmap and we get some classes & maps every month.

From experience with other games that suddenly drop off the map in terms of content right after release, alongside the radio silence/lack of a real road map, they're most likely revamping the majority of the stuff they had lined up. My money's on them combining their spring/summer content into a big "re-launch" event coinciding with the return of the cash shop/whatever the new cosmetic system is to draw in new players (bonus points if they release the console version at the same time).

There's also the non-zero chance that production has completely fallen apart post-release and the whole thing is on life-support while fatshark scrambles to fix fundamental coding issues, but I like to think positively.
