Most people I’ve known haven’t liked Bolt Thrower as much as I have. Especially earlier on most of my friends thought they were a little goofy, but I blame that on the Warhammer artwork more than the music. It’s nice to be among fellow aficionados here.

I love Bolt Thrower although I can understand why for a long time they were a bit forgotten about. I discovered them going through that whole Earache records 90s DM period - which is absolutely unparalleled in quality, and full of bands that released loads of albums, toured loads and put out loads of merch. Bolt Thrower barely toured in the UK despite being from Coventry and official merch has only ever been available at shows. Wish I had gone to the show in Leeds in 2014

Mainly Bolt Thrower does extremely good riffs and are a legitimately good metal band, setting aside the thread joke and whatever one thinks about 40K (they are the best 40K band by a mile, too).

Realm of Chaos is the most overtly about 40k, but War Master has a couple songs that to me explicitly are talking about the Horus Heresy and Great Crusade. Other than that Mercenary and HVP's art are reminiscent of Imperial Guard/Traitor Guard depictions and they have songs as late as Those Once Loyal like A Symbol of Eight about the 8 pointed star of Chaos.
