The problem is the woke elements of the mobniks are too busy figuring out which pronoun to use that they can't fight the ukrainians effectively. Putin needs to toughen up the men. Preferrably by removing artillery coverage so they can harden up

Flavahbeast posted:Thats pretty bonkers. And these are from Ukrainians who sent their children willingly to the "two week" camp in occupied Crimea, these are presumably not families who were particularly anti-Russian before all this happened Sadly it follows similar stories told by others who have managed to escape. In this case their family was living in occupied Beryslav, and Vitaly and his schoolmates were given the opportunity to visit a camp with the promise that they would be able to relax and get away from the war. There are more details in this short report from the Save Ukraine NGO, which is the organization that managed to return Vitaly and others back to Ukraine. Note, there are mentions of violence and sexual assault in this short text that is absent from the Yle article so click further with caution: https://saveukraineua.org/tpost/yklnfuv1u1-vitaly-saw-bruises-on-some-of-his-peers But to put it short, the two first weeks went fine as promised, then they were moved to another camp which was a lot worse, for the reminder of the time before the rescue. During this time their old home was liberated, making it even harder to keep contact and lowering even more the will from the Russian side to actually let the children leave. As to why parents would willingly send their children to a summer camp organized by a occupying nation? As you mentioned, they may have been friendly with Russia to begin with, or like mentioned in this El Pais article, they just wanted to get their children as far as possible from the front line. Disclaimer that the while the article itself does not contain overtly shocking material beyond text, I can not guarantee that other articles linked within may not contain such material: https://english.elpais.com/international/2023-03-28/the-missing-ukrainian-children-of-the-russian-invasion.html In general I would say that a lot of these cases seem to be normal people, for whom the government and flag suddenly changed, and as they could not do anything about it they just attempted to go in with their lives as normally as possible. Then when the new management for their kid's school promises a vacation away from what everyday life has become, they accept it, either because they want to keep their children safe or because the kids themselves are super excited for the opportunity. In Vitaly's and the children from Beryslav's case, the time before the bus left for camp was really short after they announced it, so nobody really had time to think about it either. Here is a link to an article I translated earlier this year, about a father and his journey to get back his children after they were separated in the "filtration camps" outside Mariupol: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?noseen=1&threadid=4016636&pagenumber=393&perpage=40#post529759543 This entire war is monstrous, but these kidnappings are really loving horrible even compared to the rest.

Russian ships have been sighted quite clearly looking for vulnerabilities in civilian infrastructure in the Baltic Sea, and near Britain and Norway. Power and internet cables are extremely vulnerable, and them being damaged can both literally and figuratively leave millions in a black-out, making them a high priority target in either an all-out war between Russia and the Western nations or as a way to terrorize and threaten the nations who rely on these connections staying intact. This is a Yle article on Russian ship activity and information gathering up in the Nordics. The article itself does not contain any shocking imagery nor text, but clicking further on Yle's webpages may lead you to such material. Business as usual. In case some people don't know, they have also built powerful GPS jammer stations at the edge of their waters, as close to Finland as possible, and have used them to directly attack commercial civilian flights going in and out of Helsinki, thus putting thousands of civilians at risk. And this with no actual real world justification. If there's ever a conflict between the west and Russia that exists outside Putin's head, poo poo's going to get real bad immediately. Let's hear again about how they totally weren't the ones who blew up the Nordstream pipes, though, and how it was trained CIA dolphins with moon lasers, really.

And this with no actual real world justification. If there's ever a conflict between the west and Russia that exists outside Putin's head, poo poo's going to get real bad immediately. That is a really good article! I had translated an article about how the GPS jamming most likely originates from the Russian military outpost in Suursaari, just 40 km from Finlands largest container port in Kotka. It is the second article in this post: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?noseen=1&threadid=4026289&pagenumber=30&perpage=40#post530348489 for those who might be interested in reading more about the topic. For me the clearest indication of that Nordstream was a Russian job, is the "not touching you!" part with it being just on the edge of international waters. That is exactly the same type of poo poo as loving with civilian flight GPS just because they can. By the way, the first of three parts of a documentary about this topic just released on Yle (and most likely on SVT and all other Nordic public broadcasting websites) for those interested! It is linked in the Yle article I just translated. The Yle version sadly only has Finnish and Swedish subtitles, which is a real shame because this is a topic that doesn't seem to really get much discussion outside the Nordics.

It's someone else's problem if mobiks die with cardboard bulletproof vests or from eating moldy and rotting MREs. Or, "I'll just steal a little bit. Then I'll boot the rest down to the guy below me, and he'll buy the stuff, there's still plenty of money left", repeated ad infinitum and then you end up with spray painted airsoft gear. E: it probably also doesn't help to serve in armed forces where you face a very real danger of getting assassinated by your superiors or president if you do your job too well and become too popular, for being a threat to their power. At that point gently caress it, just steal as much as you can and try to live a life of luxury while you can. What are they gonna do to you if they catch you? Throw in you jail? Ukraine's in this bizarre place where it had a few years of slightly less than utter dogshit time with fascism, and several centuries of dogshit rule from Moscow, and then a century of actively genocidal rule by communists from Moscow. If you ever wanna hear some pretty warped politics, talk to a Ukranian immigrant for a while. I had a Ukranian roommate (from Odessa, worked as an engineer for my states DOT), who simultaneously liked Putin (this was pre invasion), hated communists, thought the Nazis "weren't so bad" and also hated Trump. I'm not entirely sure where I would even out him on the political spectrum, but it was somewhere far outside the norm of US politics.

There are a lot of right wingers in Europe who hate Donald Trump because of no other reason than he's American and a Republican who seems to support big military spending, which is antithetically to right wing ideology. The whole "classically liberal" and "classically conservative" thing being flipped/originalist there.
