I remember having a soft spot for the Toyota Matrix in the brief few months of being a teenager really into 'import tuning' and the first F&F movie. Little did I know those cars were sort of the vanguard (lol get it VANguard) for the SUV crossovers we see too many of today.

The PT Cruiser has the dumbest interior of any car I've ever driven: It has 3 different clocks, the prime real estate of the center dash is taken up by the door window switches, and the steering wheel isn't concentric with steering shaft. It absolutely deserved all the hate it got.

I haven't been inside an Aztec but it's probably 2000s era GM plastic horror. I don't think it'll be a classic or anything but quirky and neat to see at car shows when I'm old(er).

Today's ugly cars don't make the Aztec better, just ahead of its time.

That said, it could be a fun project to do something weird with.

I loving hope not. It's the only Taurus design I actively dislike, but I would hate it a lot less if not for the center stack in the dash.

Aztecs will definitely be future classics but there won’t be many left because it’s early 2000’s GM, which means baby’s first interior build quality and a unibody

I wanted the one that came with the camping tent option that zipped into the open rear hatch.

My sister had the upscale version (Buick Rendezvous) It was very comfortable, and nimble for such a dorky-looking thing. Ate hub bearings at $350 apiece.

Never seen how a sequential transmission works. Seems like there's this drum on the right side that is rotated by the lever, and I'm guessing (since you can't directly see it) the shift forks sit in the cams and engage and disengage as you rotate the whole thing. Also straight-cut gears.

Not really in this case. It still is a H-pattern Subaru 6 speed, the linkages get swapped for the cam follower setup to be able to be shifted like a sequential - Prodrive first did this while they were the Subaru WRC team which makes flappy paddle commanded pneumatic / hydralic actuation doable and PPG or in this case X-Shift basically copied the basic idea.

The gearset is also dog engagement rather than synchro rings

No idea how bike transmissions work but yeah this one definitely looks like a normal car manual gearbox.

With Carbohydrates's help, I did a thing. Before you go on any farther I need to state the following:

-Any misalignment of stickers or bricks is 100% on me. I stopped giving too much of a poo poo about the stickers being perfect because I'm not perfect and trying to be so does nothing but cause me anxiety. It's actually nice to look at the license plate and shrug my shoulders and be fine with it
-I apparently didn't order every part I needed. Somehow I missed out on one of the legs for the exhaust and the holder for the passenger side mirror. The plan calls for two dark grey legs but I only ordered one. I had a minifig with two grey legs, so for now they are on there just so I can have 2 exhaust tips. I will order the dark grey one to swap out.
-I changed the hood design from Carb's on the front to try and get a little of the overhang that the current Challengers have. As such, I modified the hood pieces and realize that I need to replace some of the tiles with other tiles, which are also on order now. There are two black 1x1 tiles on the hood that will be replaced with purple ones, and the 1x3 + 1x1 tiles will be replaced with 1x4s
-I am trying to decide if I want to put the 1320 Angry Bee sticker from the MOPAR Dragster on the front fender since that is the badging on my car, but the sticker has the bee on black, and I don't know how I feel about that.

OK so here are some pics.

I thought I was going to be able to modify the 1970's Challenger that came in the MOPAR Drag set into my 2019 1320 Challenger but I was not smart enough for that. So I reached out for help. Then I realized I could just make them both since I wasn't going to canibalize the old one after all. So here they are, side by side, MOSTLY finished.

I didn't notice until now that the rear bumper wasn't centered on the new Challenger. That has been fixed. Accept my apologies

And for a little side by side with the big one:

I thought the name "Carbohydrates" as a Lego builder triggered a memory, and sure enough, he designed the 442 I bought and built:
https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-22063/Carbohydrates/1970-oldsmobile-442-w30/#details

Even issued an update to make the side mirrors more accurate when new parts became available.
Lots of very recognizable muscle cars in his Rebrickable profile.

Nice AE86, too:
