A timeout is explicitly not a 404; whatever it’s trying to download is not responding at all rather than getting a response saying “don’t have it”

Thanks for the clarification! So does that mean that the files the installer is trying to grab are no longer online?

it generally would mean the server the installer is trying to talk to isn't answering at all, which is rather odd, and trying it from multiple networks would rule out some sort of weird config issue on your current network

e: i just updated to 16.1.1 idk

The server is online. The error message is your local machine timing out. Ie it didn’t send a request, the process on the local machine died for whatever reason. Try running as admin.

Firewalls are the other thing, do you have something in your network that could be blocking the ports/ips? I don't actually know where the git stuff is stored, I assume GitHub. Can you clone some random GitHub repo?

Thanks! Just tried that, no luck. Turned off all of the windows defender stuff too, just in case. Could there be another setting I need to change?

The balance changes to the game had a pretty big impact on some of the campaign missions. Some of them got easier but a fair number got much harder. And a couple of the endgame missions were always a bit perversely difficult when you over-teched to assaults just by being really slow. The enemies get all the positioning & terrain advantages, and those are easier to neutralize when you're fast.

Panzyr Defense was legit impossible in BTA until they changed it because turn one the vehicles have eight EVA, turn two they have like six or seven, and turn three you lose. Melee was a good approach but BTA vehicles are way tougher than the base game

I was running the flashpoint where you have to attack a pirate bar and was rolling through it fairly quickly. And then a Demolisher rolled up into range and shot my till-then undamaged SLDF Battlemaster right in the face with an AC20. Had to hose Squire out of the cockpit. Sorry Justin!

I accidentally fired off a nuke during an assassination mission. It blewup all my BA in the area, ran all my mechs up to maximum heat, blew up all the enemy Mechs, and ended the mission immediately as a success.

My first two missions in 3062 did not go well for different reasons. In the first one, I got jockeyed by a battle armor and almost lost a Commando to it, I ended up having to let it knock itself over to dislodge them, which hurt the pilot. Ironically the rest of the enemies were pretty weak and easily taken down.

On my second mission, I went to the other side of the point where we meet up with the escortees, under the assumption that we would be moving further onwards. I was wrong and the destination was now behind me, and the people I needed to escort were now incredibly vulnerable. It still worked out because they ended up being tough enough to take the enemy's attack. It was very annoying that my battlemechs were too far away to protect them

the first several missions are going to be tough, also battle armor is scary. bring flamers

also if the opfor has BA you're fighting clanners? that's definitely going to be tough, but awesome salvage opportunities

actually, bringing flamers and plasma rifles is really nice early on because you can cook mechs that are above your pay grade

question for 3062 peeps: are machine guns worth it at all with their reduced crit rates?

They're very good damage relative to weight/heat, but only worth it if you're boating a bunch of them so you're not bringing a ton of ammo for two MGs or something. They're nice on backstabbers.

Pretty suboptimal for crit fishing, though - bring them for damage output.

I also did a “duel” mission. It was kind of neat, although since both of us were in light mechs we did this whole song and dance punching each other in the back over and over again. I did win though, thanks to the enemy ejecting after their side torso exploded

Plasma rifles are just good in general throughout the game because they flex well to handle BA and Vehicle threats while remaining solid vs mechs. Their range and damage chunking is particularly attractive because the ideal place to kill BA is far away, and the ideal time is immediately.

Machine guns are great secondary structure weapons on mechs that expect to get to machine gun range anyways.

this is why any elemental riding on a clan mech is immediately focus fired by 40 mortar tubes, three arrow IVs, a sniper artillery and a long tom

Are there any settings that improve performance in BTA? Also is there anything I can do to prevent softlocking on evac? The longer battles are making it punishing to lose progress.

I've done a few custom Lego builds, and yeah, I don't know of a more effective way that from Lego trade sites, and buying individual parts adds up pretty fast.

I think I paid a bit under that for a Lego-mini scale Stormcrow, based on BrickCommander, not the, honestly, much nicer one from that site.
