Kill Six Billion Demons

Alt: Student of the Principle Art of Cutting

quote:

There is only one way to be a pure master of sword law. This is to allow your body to become absolutely soaked with death.

Death is always in the body at all times, but happier people are able to let it live only in their skin, or on the surface of their eyelids. They may easily wash it off from time to time and carry on with their lives.

When I tell my students to shave their heads, partly it is so they cannot rid themselves of death so easily. Those who do not bathe in death regularly will forget it is there, and that is a very stupid thing to do when swords are involved.

I think pages 2 and 3 are still in the wrong order?

Edit: Also, every now and then I catch myself think about the SDM page where they're pulling out the torch/light thing from Shinozaki. Just a gorgeous page. Thank you for posting it!

If nobody else is going to hop on this, I'm thinking it might be time to break 15 years of avatar-less-ness.

Also, there are so many good comics being posted at the moment! I wish I had something valuable to add to discussions but I don't. Greatly appreciated the Opplopolis ending discussions a while ago because I was way too stupid for that comic but enjoyed the ride.

Firstly, the demonic dutch tulip swindle comic has possibly the best art in the thread atm, somehow crisp yet crawling with detail. It's incredible.
But:
The birds' faces really bug me. Corvids are so expressive already, you don't need to give them a jagged beak and huge eyebrows and cheeks to get their emotions across!!
Question is, does it work beautifully for absolutely everyone else (and it's just me being weird cos I spend half my free time staring down a lens at various birbs??)
I think it works well, they're just as stylized as the humans/"humans" are.

I completely missed this edit comment: yeah, Crumb and friends are pretty Looney Tunes but I reckon it's in a good way. The humans are all pretty Looney Tunes, too. I will mention that the huge eyebrows is a Crumb-only thing to separate her from the rest of the flock.

I'd be interested to see how corvids express themselves in real life, by the way. Closest I've ever gotten to one was taking photos of a crow perching on the top of a water feature in Ueno Park. I was going to add a crack about getting dive bombed by magpies too, but apparently our local ones are Artamidae.

There's an ongoing debate about Meti and what she thought she was doing vs what incubus and Maya actually turned out as but thanks to this thread I have arrived at the new option of: both of them sucked and if Chako ever felt like using a sword she'd be the ultimate version of what Meti was trying to do.

Her sister cares too much about others even though she's about as deadly.
