Chiming in while avoiding the rest of the thread for spoilers since I haven't finished the game yet, I figured out how to bind controls to the mouse thumb buttons on PC:

Use WASD to navigate to the command you wish to assign to a thumb button (evade or force push/pull or whatever), select it with space or enter so it is waiting for the input, hold down left click on the mouse and then hold down the thumb button you wish to use and it should work. It won't work if you just hold the thumb button, for some reason you have to hold down left click on the "press button" prompt and then hold the thumb button.

One issue that I seem to have is certain quick time events that require mashing evade or whatever you have assigned to a thumb button doesn't appear to work (they may just be broken period though, seems people with default controls are still having the same issue), you may just have to toggle the "always succeed" QTE thing in accessibility options because gently caress QTEs anyway.

No it doesn’t. Do whatever you want. I’ve played almost the whole game on Jedi Knight and dropped down to Padawan for a later boss. I forgot to change it back and found I was having a lot more fun getting perfect parries more often. So I think I’m just gonna leave it on padawan.

I got through Rayvis, Dagan, Spawn of Oggdo, and that Force Tear with two rancors on Jedi Knight just fine, but I had to drop it to Padawan for him and the final boss. I don't think I ever got the parry timing down.

Bode is clearly a strong operator. He masks himself from Cere and Cordova as well. He also doesn't use the force to escape and it's only in desperation that he uses it. I just assumed he had that "cut yourself off from the force" thing that seems commonplace when Jedi want to go unnoticed.

I think I remember him using Mind trick in one of the postgame echos you can find so I don’t think he completely cut himself off from the Force like Cere did

I don't know why but it took me ten hours of gameplay to realize I can just switch stances mid-combo. If you go single + crossguard it looks like Cal is kickin on some rockets to swing harder.

This.

I don't get the extreme thirst for her other than the standard, "gamers are thirsty for any young female in a video game," vibe. I find it interesting in the same way people were super thirsty for Tali in Mass Effect because it's a young, odd woman who is unfamiliar with mainstream culture and social nuances and thus needs to be "taught" how poo poo works. They both have the same faux vaguely eastern European/bullshit Slavic accent, too. At least in this game Merrin has figured poo poo out and is self sufficient, unlike Tali who was blundering through poo poo well into the third game.

I'm sorry you got spoiled, it's a really great reveal, but knowing its coming won't at all diminish the fight, for what that is worth. It was one of the best moments of the game. The way its done really elevates Jedi Survivor's story. I loved that moment a lot.

Yeah it's much more focused on parrying, but there's better feedback on parrying and on when the enemy is going to counter attack.

I picked it up after playing Fallen Order because a lot of people said they're somewhere similar, and now it's one of my favorite games of all time.

Dunno if you're using blaster stance, but the charged shot interrupts every one of his attacks, even the red ones, and staggers him. It makes him much, much easier.

Path of Conviction is the current one, though I was flailing away at the cannon in the moon area until the game suddenly decided to accept I pressed the buttons in time instead of dropping me to my death. It also seems impossible to do the jumping between posts in the monastery area in Jedha for one puzzle; Cal just decides he won't cling to the walls in question halfway through and falls to his death (the system also decided to randomly save me a ways back from there and not reset my position to where I started the jumping puzzle even when I wandered elsewhere and saved the game). If they even allowed one extra second in timing for some of these drat things it wouldn't be as frustrating. Ah well, can't play right now since EA poo poo the bed so I'll check YouTube to see if there's any trick I'm missing for this one at least. Just sucks when I know what I need to do but the game insists on not letting me do it fast enough.

So it looks like I'm going to end up using the two new stances, even though I thought I wouldn't. Blaster is too good and crossguard is a radical enough difference that it's also fun.

I wonder if the game has some internal system of "levels," because I revisited an earlier area to try and find a bounty hunter* and encountered one if the wampa guys, and it went down way faster than it did when fighting it earlier.

* Speaking of this, is there a good way to find them other than googling? I don't want to have to blindly scour the entire area the lady tells me to look in. Also, can you encounter bounty hunters other than the ones she mentions?

Skippy McPants posted:

They show up as Rumors on the map, so there's a little icon with a relatively small circle around it indicating where in that area you can find them.

You can track them in the rumors tab and iirc you can also scope them out on the map in the bounties tab, both of those narrowed it down pretty well for me.
