It's the wearing of a Breton cap that got the corbmeister accused of being a Russian spy for wearing a Lenin cap. (Source: friends of mine who quote directly from the furthest reaches of the anti-Corbyn net and also do the horseshoe theory, Nazis were socialists thing I did end up saying to one of them "Come on, you're better than that".

The first couple of Lower Decks episodes are rough on first viewing because you don't know any of the characters and they're manic and screechy and the writers have tried to cram in too many jokes, most of which are little more than "hey, I just mentioned [STAR TREK THING]!" But it settles down quickly and starts getting genuinely good. Basically it begins as a shouty cartoon space comedy with Star Trek trimmings, and turns into an actual Star Trek show with more jokes than usual.

Especially when you get into the season 2 finale, that rescue sequence which is just perfect Star Trek, but also making full use of the animated medium to do stuff that they couldn't usually do in a live action show.

The problem - which I doubt Keith or Wes have the brains to fix - is that you can only do that with a shitload more community nurses and GPs than are currently working for the NHS. And, it only works if you have a functioning Social Care system, which this country is an exceptionally long way away from having. And if you don't have the health staff or the social care staff to make sure patients are safe in the community, then they either stay in hospital until the local council finds a glue merchant willing to set up a care home, or the patients get discharged to get sick again and be readmitted within weeks.

What's the focus group angle with "the big killers, heart disease, cancer, and (very sadly) suicide"? Like something can be sad and also nowhere near one of the biggest killers, so it's not accurate so not accurate that it's not even on the list. Seems a pretty ghoulish tugging on heart strings to make up lies that the numbers of deaths of each are in any way close.
