Holy poo poo you weren't kidding, "Conqueror Beyond the Frenzied Fog" sounds like it came off Battles in the North or something.

Also Caught Somewhere in Time for the first time since ‘87, and Stranger in a Strange Land for the first time since a handful of shows in ‘99.

The setlist in general is mostly live debuts or songs which have been unplayed since 2010s but as you say, CSIT is unplayed since 87, Stranger since 99. It's a pretty incredible set and they're playing really well for actual pensioners.

I'd swap out Death of the Celts tho.

The full set, if anyone is interested:

Caught somewhere in time
Stranger in a strange land
The writing on the wall
Days of future past
The time machine
The prisoner
Death of the celts
Can I play with madness
Heaven can wait
Alexander the great
Fear of the dark
Iron Maiden
---
Hell on earth
The trooper
Wasted years

Hoping they make it to my end of Canada next year, there's a few songs on that list I'd love to hear.

Big Immortal influence here, but where I was expecting a copycat from the description, I ended up picking up a pretty varied set of '90s/'80s influences from Aeternus to King Diamond to John Carpenter

Didn't see it posted yet, new Terrifier album came out a few days ago. Random track:

Terrifier: Death & Decay
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqLfSgsWvQc

Their previous album is one of the better neothrash efforts imo, see e.g.:

Terrifier: Sect of the Serpent

New album is not on Bandcamp it seems (except in vinyl format) which is unfortunate. However it is on Apple Music and whatnot

The best death/doom album of the year coming in July.

I've been team Eternal Rot since their split a year or two ago. Just a real *nasty* disgusting sound. Doom is not normally my deal but these guys absolutely get it.

edit: That Vansidian album is super reminiscent of Children of Bodom, minus the orchestral keyboard stabs, in a good way.

Obviously half of korpiklanni's discography counts, all of Electric Callboy is on the table, , Municipal Waste, some alestrom (meh but it works for the stated goal), some Powerwolf, tekilla from Cerberus

It's more rock than metal, but the vocalist is Björn Strid from Soilwork, so I'm gonna plug The Night Flight Orchestra. They're exactly what I'd put on a "vacation playlist".

Also, some of Edguy's bouncier tracks like this one would probably be a good fit.
