Slight off topic, where can I find a reliable weather service that covers lemans? I am starting to pack stuff and apple weather is showing rains during the weekend but i'd like another opinion before committing to hard rain kit.

Weather Underground and/or Windy are my go-to weather apps in general. I don't pay for Windy premium so if I need hourly forecast I'll use WU.

Well apple and accuweather say light rain while weather underground believes it's monsoon season ... Yay...

In my experience anything past 3 days ahead and the Apple Weather App forecast gets shakey. Mileage may vary for euros tho.

Drag racing is way more sensitive about rain than turning racing.

Not being under a grandstand on a endurance race is also a weather sensitive activity, i'm not a 🐸.

More than 48 hours out, where good sites will stop showing detailed tracking, is where the vast majority of accuracy disappears.

If you look at detailed chart on yr.no for Jammerbugten in Denmark as an example, you'll see that for the first part of the chart is much more detailed than further out - if your weather app doesn't have something like that, or won't publish it, it's pretty reasonable to assume they're not very accurate.
For a particular example, look at June 9th; there's a whole 10c difference in the the 80% probability range.

Unfortunately the satelites they use don't cover all of Europe down to Le Mans.

Also, here's a somewhat interesting fact: Jammerbugten is named that because back in the day, when storms would rage because they'd be pushed down here by the Norwegian coast (which still happens regularly today, and is why it's one of the windiest parts in Denmark), people on the beach would light fires to lure in ships.
These ships would then ground themselves on the beach thinking there was a harbor where there was a light, and the people on the beach would raid the ships - and all this happened long after the Viking age :black101:

Yes, but how many of them earned a name that translates as "Bay of Woe"?

Just a friendly word of advice, start planning for the trip far ahead. I planned for this year's outing last November and paid dearly for it(all cheap places went away by august). Bookings demanded his due for the lemans apartment yesterday (a cool 2k€) and it was the cheaper I've found that wasn't a hut on AirBnB.

the NHRA is in New England(not a real state) this weekend. It might rain all weekend. So expect the announcers to be in full no fucks given mode. Should make for some interesting nhra.tv.

We're like an hour north of boston. I hate it out here. No one drives right. They obey the speedlimit and are terrified of merging.

I hope i'm not missing out by being onsite on the eight instead of yesterday but i would have been bled dry by hotel expenses if i was there by yesterday.

Edit: All three cadillacs seems to be in working order, mechanics must have burned the midnight oil to fix their cars after that dramatic wipeout at spa.

I think I heard that parts/chassis were flown over from the U.S., so even though the tub involved in the Spa wreck is salvageable, maybe the time-frame for getting it ready wasn't right? in any case, glad they didn't have to pull out. Excited to hear that thing in person at Fuji later this year.

the new app is such rear end, my god.

Some Le Mans primer for anyone catching up this year:

Highlights from the first three races of the season:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DMfJo4VjlU

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pneaNoLZW4Q

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jH5aX60jzs

Ambience from last season at night at Le Sarthe:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jn9Jcj6OlnM

And if you're looking for some history, it's almost like there's 100 years of it to look back on. One of the easy things to check is the two Truth in 24 documentaries, made about Audi and two individual years coming at the 24 Hours of Le Mans:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFwoxM1MiBw

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3pD1FcZ6aM

and it sure looks like a lot of Le Mans yearly highlights packages made their way onto YouTube too...

New England rained. I’d recommend visiting one of other member tracks where the track GM isn’t more concerned about getting his timeslips instead of running his track.

There’s a pretty sweet RC track next door tho.

Also the Albacore exhibit is worth a look.

The closer we get to the event the worse they plan for the weekend. Weather underground show rain on Friday and tropical monsoons on Saturday and Sunday, Accuweather is a tad less apocalyptic but it still shows rains on the weekend. I'd love to avoid spending the race in the rented apartment due to adverse weather.

Wundeground is showing a high chance of rain but a tiny amount of actual precipitation, a peak of half a millimeter an hour during the race. The lightning chance is prolly a bigger concern tbh

I always took it to mean "always expect rain at Le Mans, otherwise you'll end up crashing".

Of course, you still might end up crashing, but it's a given if you aren't expecting rain.

It's okay if it rains at Lemans. It's not okay if it's red flagged for 6 hours because there's too much rain. We got through the Ring without any rain though, so who knows.

I'm mostly worried about thunderstorms since my camping chair is aluminium heavy. Being fried by lightning at LeMans would make a cool ending tho.

Edit: riding on a Frecciarossa in top spec class toward the event, weather forecast seems pretty much the same as previously. See ya in a few.

You might want to talk with SNCF/inoui (depending on your ticket) staff, tickets are not automatically transferable.
