The crazy thing is they sound like the most American rock band. They are Norwegian. It's a bit like Night Flight Orchestra, because it's people from Sahg and Enslaved…

Yes.
Yeah Audrey Horne are loving good. All this tasty, tasty Thin Lizzy/Iron Maiden dual guitar goodness married to some really energetic modern hard rock.

Also while there's goofy joke bands being posted, well, I just came across this and it was way more legit than I expected:

And I want to add, the vocalist of that above song (not the dude lip syncing on the video) does not look like you would expect

Audrey Horne is fantastic live and Redemption Blues is an excellent album.

I was a bit out of touch with metal since a couple of months and mostly listening to rap and 90's grunge/alternative so today I decided to listen to Bolt Thrower and gently caress yes it's all coming back again

ok fine, i'll take a look. Saw them live a bunch of years ago opening for someone (Iron Maiden? Metallica? forget who) and the sound mixing was awful. Didn't dig them at all.

edit: I made it to the 5th song. Including "Nobody" and "We love you" with the highest play count on spotify. I apologize to the sound engineer of the concert I've been to. They do sound awful, even in the studio. I can't take it anymore, 5 songs is enough.

City of Evil had some cool moments and the Rev was a good drummer. The overproduction and M. Shadows bring it waaaaaay down.

I also just picked up Formulas on vinyl yesterday. I know it's heresy but I think it's my favorite Morbid Angel album. So happy.

covenant being top right rather than blessed is more wrong than liking formulas

pandora loved giving me songs off of gateways to annihilation in the mid-2000s so that's my favorite mid-period morbid angel album by default. i haven't listened to them in forever for some reason though.

Pfft, I had the first two on cassette in the 90s and the album art was way bigger. Why yes, my car's tape player did try to eat them because cassettes suck rear end, thanks for asking.

Seriously though, I do like the presentation there, looks nice. Morbid Angel was one of my gateways into death metal back in the day and I still appreciate how they managed to make the first few albums so good while being very different.

its the right balance of goofy poo poo and just enough effort to keep it listenable. and obviously everyone involved is a giant metal nerd and the deep cut jokes in between more obvious stuff is great.
