And the last person that can speak up, the straight white Christian male - if you do, you’ll be laughed at because your opinion doesn’t count because you have automatic “privilege”.
It’s sick. I know I lost out to a position due to this. I was highly qualified, 4 high level interviews went very well. Then I saw the job posted through a 3rd party resource firm, called “The Professional Diversity Network”. A firm dedicated to helping companies grow a ‘more diverse’ workforce. I inquired about the decision after a few of weeks and was told, “yes, top candidate! please have a little patience”. After another couple of weeks and then seeing this posting I withdrew my candidacy out of principle - let them know they’re going to lose good people. I don’t believe they filled the role yet.
That said, this crap is everywhere.

The bankruptcy courts are being incredibly lenient on him. He has subbed falsified paperwork about his finances multiple times and has been caught doing fraud-adjacent transfers of money to his business associates behind his CRO's back, yet the court still has granted him multiple deadline extensions and even allows the lawyer for one of his self-dealing shell companies a seat at the table while indulging the fiction that it is an unrelated entity. Its not impossible the bankruptcy court is closing in on him, but they are taking their sweet time. The rules of the system are set up to protect the rich and wealthy; unfortunately, he qualifies as both.
My guess as to his current depressive mood is that he just doesn't enjoy his job anymore.

I listened to one of the knowledge fight episodes with the plaintiff's lawyer from one of the sandy hook cases, and I think his position was that the court is slow, but inexorable. So we may see some good outcomes eventually, although yes it would be nice if it were faster and crueller, for once.
He got an absurd amount of leniency in the run up to the billion dollar judgement as well.

I think what makes it so jarring is how harmless and inoffensive she is. She's not like a politician or something who is making decisions that give them a reason to hate her. The disaster begins when the “trial” is turned into an entitlement for all. The taxes that must be collected to provide this benefit will be enormous. Plus it will cost money to administer the program, and that will raise the cost by what percent?
After a short time the recipients will demand more. And that will not be enough, so they will escalate their demands.
One result will be that many will stop working - because they now have enough money, or because it’s no longer sensible to work when a huge percentage is confiscated for taxes.
The final result is disaster. It’ll take some time, but the final outcome is certain.
