I think Reddit should have been organized as a nonprofit and probably could have been a decent (if flawed) resource for at least a few decades that way, sort of like Wikipedia. It already functionally runs on volunteer labor. Anyway that ship sailed ages ago and now it is going to die in the name of value extraction.
