Mandela Effected myself because I was convinced that Big Fash wore a black button down shirt for Big Fash Delusion Song rather than that shoulder buttoned thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yX4O3dNTFYw But even watching that as a literal child I managed to get that the message being conveyed was not one in favour of fascism, and the only people who missed that were loving idiots like the Hammerskins who formed a racist group based on the imagery, and equal loving idiots calling Waters a fascist over it.

I think you're right, but they're wearing the same shoulder buttoned shirts in that video too. I think I must have blended in some of the actual britfash that it was obviously pointing at into the mental image.

kecske posted:just the bin men getting exposed to the mercury as they break then Yes. Though they use lorries that pick the bins up and tip stuff in here so wimpy modern bin people don't get to touch the rubbish unlike proper bin men from when I were a lassie who hoisted big smelly dustbins on their backs with a cheerful whistle and smile. Maybe if they provided somewhere to put them that didn't require you to have a car, people wouldn't do that. (In our flats it's hard enough to get people to understand that wrappers from crisps and packets of biscuits have to go in the black household waste bin not the red paper & card bin,, purple plastics & foi binl, yellow hygiene waste bin, blue food bins, nor the green bin with the round hole at the top for glass bottles and jars only but not non round glass, or the green lift up top £50 a year garden waste bin, let alone take batteries to the supermarket, or bully acquaintance with car to get a slot at the tip several miles away to take your light bulb). Time all these systems were streamlined. It's a freakin nightmare esp when we're on a border with England and English rules are entirely different so people's carers or relatives who live over the border don't have a clue and bung anything anywhere. (A bit ranty because I'm fed up of people putting stuff in the wrong bins when they've had letters from the council, letters from me, also where we out our bins out people using Home Bargains or takeaway use them as general mini skips.) At least the CFL bulbs are gradually disappearing from circulation.

The concerning thing would be a bunch of Tory MPs joining an even more right wing party like Reform UK, and Reform UK then being in a position after a General Election to prop up a Tory minority government in exchange for policies. I know Cameron was concerned enough about the prospect to hold the doomed Brexit referendum, but, well... Cameron was a complete loving moron whose political power was entirely based on good press. I do think there's a cap on the number of people who would be willing to vote for the red These are Tories who feel confident they're out of power at the next election and want first dibs on the best seats on the gravy train.

Hello lovely people! My partner recently met a homeless person living in our town that she would like to help. Not knowing much about how this sort of thing works I've come here to ask for advice. This homeless person seems to be in their 20s and originally comes from Moldova, possibly they are not a legal immigrant. We are considering that we could provide them with clothes and toiletries, they do not have a phone so we might be able to help them with that... it seems that they are just generally in need of help in many ways, they have poor English so they could be struggling to access assistance, but we don't know much about their situation or what they would accept. A quick google lead us to the council homeless helpline (we are in Cheshire East) but we are not sure how useful this is. If anyone has experience in this area and can point the way to charities, helplines etc that are useful in this kind of situation please let us know; or any advice would be welcome.

Eddy-Baby posted:Hello lovely people! If you are on FB have you looked in neighbourhood groups? There's a homeless guy in our town probably late 30s. In the past few years many people have tried to help him finding him accommodation, getting the council involved, gofundme, all-sorts but nothing has worked out and he's still on the streets (except during COVID). Have a look and see if anyone has tried to help him or is actively helping him already. I know 2 women in particular who spent many hours trying to help him until they couldn't cope emotionally anymore as they were untrained and everything kept breaking down because the guy basically wasn't interested in help. He doesn't even beg just pitches up on his sleeping bag in various covered walkways. But yes, contact council homeless team as well. Also, I know the US version of Sally Army is questionable in who it will help, but the UK Sally Army claims to help everyone regardless of faith, gender etc. Meanwhile maybe money or if he's near a sandwich shop maybe ask him something like 'Im getting a sandwich would you like one'.
