Only one of those cars can hold the French version of Burt Reynolds, smoldering fag peaking out from a frothy-yet-waxed mustache and enormous sunglasses

Its predecessor the Bagheera apparently was so poorly rust-protected that not a single example remains in the wild, lol

Fun fact about the Bagheera/Murena is that they're 3 seaters.

The wheels are like that for safety believe it or not. Citroen even had a patent on it for a while, it's made to deform in a controlled way in an impact, having the spokes at the bottom means you're less likely to smash your head where one connects to the wheel as that would prevent the rim from deforming.

The 323F/Astina/Lantis had no real reason to look that different from it's C-code stablemates. It had no reason to be called a 323, either. But Mazda did it anyways, and created a pair of interesting looking cars along the way.

Humphreys posted:It very much had the 323 badging on the rear though. Is that a rarity or someone loving around swapping badges? In the UK, what Japan (and America?) knew as the Astina was sold as the Mazda 323F, then that was replaced by what is otherwise called the Lantis but was still called a 323F. And at the same time we got the MX-3 as well. The original 323 (the one that looks like a cross between a Mk1 Golf and a Chevette) sold really well here, so presumably Mazda wanted to keep the 323 name going.

The Lantis could also be had with a 2.0 version of the V6, in 147 and 170hp form. It's also piss easy to swap in the 2.5l version from the MX-6/Probe, or the 2.3l supercharged Miller cycle version with 217hp. Other Lantis weirdness included frameless windows. We saw a heap of them here ex Japan. Humphreys posted:It very much had the 323 badging on the rear though. Is that a rarity or someone loving around swapping badges? Badging varied by market obviously, but I'm certain the ones sold new here had 323 between the taillights and a smaller Astina badge on the bootlid spoiler.

CAT INTERCEPTOR posted:Yep thats the Astina. In their day a remarkably good car and a dramatic improvement on the previous gen 323 Note that the Astina/323F/Lantis were C platform cars, more closely related to the 626/Xedos than the Familia/323. My dad had a 323F for a good while. 150,000km with no problems. Looked cool, wasn't horrible on gas, pretty comfy inside, but visibility was poor and the 4cyl. made it very slow.

I remember there being 323 Astinas getting about when I were a lad too. Mate had the eunos with the 1.8V6 as well but it was slammed with a bodykit and not set up for speed at all. Still sounded cool as and got him on Hot4s, maybe a cover but I don't remember.
