What specifically drives your anxiety?

For me, it's the being at the gate on time part. Security's never been an issue. I am a Plane Knower and the aircraft is the least of my worries, everything is triple redundant and its one of the few industries where anyone still gives a poo poo. I wore an N95 the whole way from CA to DC and back and nobody gave me poo poo, but I'm also a tall skinnyfat goonlord who's on :catdrugs: most of the time so maybe people don't wanna gently caress around.

Air travel was unpleasant even before the planes became flying airborne disabling plague marinade bags.

I am certainly contemplating noping off the continent at this rate, between the rate of decay and the worsening fascist irruptions.

Most people believe that nothing should ever be allowed to personally inconvenience them, and masks fall under that.

Considering the CDC is starting to mention that long covid is damaging the economy, we know it's worse then they're openly saying.

Contrary to what certain posters who treat Marx as a holy writ to cite think, an uncontrolled plague is a major material condition. Things were already falling apart, but both the sickness and the terrible social reaction to it are inflection points that massively increased the rate of decay.

Marx wrote about contagious disease harming workers. He said that factory workers should be at least eight feet apart to prevent tuberculosis, and when capitalists say they can't do this and be profitable, what they're really saying is that healthy lungs for workers are incompatible with capitalism.

Ocean Shores, WA is the main seaside resort town for Seattle-area people and despite all that money flowing in every summer the place looks like a time capsule from the 1970s that's about to fall into the ocean. The other beach towns (aside from Seabrook which is this weird fake town) like Westport and Long Beach are even worse.

You just have to check it at the gate anyway, but I guess that's still better if you don't actually get to board.

I've flown once since COVID started - my flight was in April of 2022 - and at the time it was like the last week or two where masks were still mandated on flights. I assume now virtually no one wears a mask except for maybe the flight attendants but even then I doubt it.

My man, there was a baseball game in Pittsburgh today with 200+ AQI, poo poo looked like Mordor, and the game was still played and fans in the stands didn't do a single loving thing to keep themselves from huffing benzene.
