I do some tutoring and one of my kiddos is working on writing skills, so I give him prompts each week for him to write a little one paragraph story. I sometimes use ChatGPT to make random prompts for him to choose from. It's not uncommon to get prompts that don't make a lot of sense, though ("you meet a talking candy" is a bit too existentially horrifying, I think) and it quickly starts to repeat itself. It really likes "you find a magical [thing] that grants wishes" and there's only so many times I can offer that idea. I'm not particularly worried about using AI to replace creative writers, not in the way visual art is vulnerable, but someone sure is going to try, and it's going to be terrible.

At my office we have a portion of the job that involves writing a record of a discussion in a very specific way. It's a very specific voice you need to use that's super passive and neutral, but most employees have picked it up within a few months and it's not hard after that. One employee directly under me still struggles with that, and has a habit of just copying/pasting materials from before the discussion to try and summarize it after the fact, and he's also always talking about AI and chatgpt and how helpful it is when he has to send out cold emails for his side-gig. I'm extremely worried he's going to start trying to train a chatbot on our extremely confidential records and use that to generate these records instead of writing them himself.

I’ll say this about Musk’s swing at Twitter, I’ve never seen a post that ended with “Show more” that was remotely interested in clicking through. I don’t usually check for checkmarks when reading a tweet, and seeing that threat of more dumb content gives me plenty of context about the author.

I'm not saying they've been infiltrated; I'm saying the cops have basically taken them over; see also: Extinction Rebellion telling young activists to give themselves criminal records. (It wouldn't be out of the question, either; the anti-nuclear power movement got off the ground thanks to oil money, and fossil fuel companies still funnel a lot of money into that part of the green movement to help snuff out the competition from the left)

The problem with Scotus man is that you have to save up so many bolts because there are 9 of the fuckers and each time you get rid of one you then have to lobby the government to get one of YOUR guys into the SCOTUS in his place before he gets replaced with someone worse. So first go you get Roll into the SC, then Rush, then Prof Light, and so on until you at least can get a majority on 5-4 decisions.
