This era of American car design was the absolute poo poo, slam 'em and there's little approaching them in terms of coolness.

*edit:

While the model they're starting this with sucks poo poo and is ugly as sin I applaud a manufacturer finally pushing this.

quote:

As of today, FIAT stops producing grey cars. The decision was made to enhance the importance of colours in life, embodying the Italian way of living and reaffirming the Brand’s New Dolce Vita value.

Italy is indeed related to bright colours such as the Sea of Italy, the Sun of Italy, the Earth of Italy and the Sky of Italy; landscapes that provide FIAT with a lot of inspiration for its cars. The strategy is implemented to add a distinctive feature to FIAT’s cars in the automotive market, as 2023 is the year of a remarkable change for the Brand.

“We broke the rules: we decided to stop the production of FIAT grey cars. This is challenging and disruptive and it is aimed to further reinforcing FIAT’s leadership as the Brand of joy, colours, and optimism. Italy is the country of colours and, starting from today, FIAT’s cars too - declared Olivier Francois, FIAT Chief Executive Officer and Global Chief Marketing Officer at Stellantis - This choice further communicates to people the New Dolce Vita values and the Italian DNA embodied by the Brand. FIAT wants to inspire people to live with optimism and positivity and this will also be one of the missions of the new Fiat 600e, the electric for families and friends, which will be presented on 4th July”.

In the new dedicated video, thanks to which customers can discover FIAT brand-new colourful world, the brand’s CEO Olivier Francois aboard the new Fiat 600e takes a deep dive into colour, under the claim “ITALY. THE LAND OF COLOURS. FIAT. THE BRAND OF COLOURS”.

The current FIAT range - New 500, 500 Hybrid, 500X, Panda and Tipo - is available in different shades of colours among those: Gelato white, Sicilia orange, Paprika orange, Passione red, Blu Dipinto di Blu, Italia blue, Venezia blue, Rugiada green, Foresta green, Rose gold and Cinema black – all with an evocative name that reminds of Italian beautiful landscapes and dolce vita mood.

Grey is the most popular colour for new cars in the UK according to official registration figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), representing more than one in four new cars sold in the UK in 2022.

Spotted this bad boy outside my friend's bar last night:

I happened to be shooting an event there - lots of portraits and group shots - so I had my camera with a 50mm prime lens. Someone pointed at the road and I spun around, let out a huge *GASP* and screamed "THAT'S MY FAVOURITE CAR!!!"

Thanks that means a lot! I consider myself a decent photographer - been shooting a lot of B&W lately now that my confidence is up enough to get into higher ISOs and deal with the grain, in low-light environments like venues and bars (nothing beats a flash for the dancefloor and DJ shots though). I wish I'd had the aperture slightly higher for this photo; you can see the back end of the car is a little out of focus.

Oh also, this El Camino had the faux wood strip on the tailgate. Not sure if that was a standard feature when they were being made, but I loved that little touch. "I hate to see you go, but I love to watch you leave."

You can check out my pics at @0pposingforce on Insta if you want. It's mostly event photos and pictures of cats, not much vehicle stuff since I sold my GSX-R.

Spent the whole day yesterday driving around hunting for a new project car. Specifically another Samurai. Found 8, but only 1 person was willing to part with theirs. A Santana Samurai Special Edition! Pretty much a standard Samurai, but has both power steering and AC. it's in pretty rough shape, quite a few bits missing, some collision damage, but it's MINE! for US$550, lol Collecting it with a flatbed on Monday.

It is fiberglass. Those were all the details the guy gave, that and it's a fiberglass body and "it's not this chassis, but one very similar to it"

edit: it is a Fischer Fisher Fury R1 or similar (a bunch of variants and the design got sold) let's see if I can hotlink to this guy's website since imgur is down

An Ape will make you feel like going a thousand kmh at ten with death rattles; putting a real engine in it is a decade old tradition, be it a motoguzzi, a ducati or a mv augusta(putting high power japanese ones is relatively recent). You just need to stay the gently caress away from the cops if you engine swap it, since they will catch you immediately if you go faster than 10 kmh.

So there were different types huh? I never used either one or even saw it up close so I've no idea how they worked.

Not really surprised that the Germans came up with this one, somehow it reminded me of the shutter calibration machine they made in the 30s(?)
