holefoods posted:seems very smart to tell the country extremely good at doing things itself they aren’t allowed to use american services and encourage them to do more things on their own Idk if this matters. It's clear that all the major players who are capable of fielding their own online platforms will just do so, themselves or more likely along alliance lines (ie the west continuing to use their own solutions). This is more of the same, and would probably just happen naturally. We joke a lot about Tiktok but at this point it is all but ensured that it will be blocked from the west, just a question of when. The world is closing back up and new lines of power will be drawn (are being drawn). The major question right now is how to settle the issue of functionally irreplicable global resources; physical resources but also things like TSMC. That's the kind of poo poo that starts wars in a tightening world. e: It's also worth noting that fighting global warming is now completely and utterly dead (insofar as it ever lived) and whatever happens with that, uhhhh is going to suck, and will likely involve nations unilaterally deploying atmospheric solutions to change the weather, which could help, or kill everyone, so that's cool. We know we can affect the weather (typically via distributing particulate of various kinds into the atmosphere) so it's really only a matter of time before someone tries that. Probably someone completely hosed like India or the UAE. It's not just climate change though, global cooperation and ethics are completely irrelevant now. Biochem, robotics, gene editing, AI, the genie is never going back in the bottle now, or at least, not quickly enough to matter. Taima has issued a correction as of 18:20 on Jul 5, 2023 |

God it must be so easy to be a mid level CPC planner, just watch for whatever tiny policy change the creaking us machine manages to poo poo out and mark that as the next opportunity for its own capitalists to build up domestically.

Boot and Rally posted:Star Trek and More Star Trek channel on Pluto TV. You will have to endure some ads, but eh. I have never watched Babylon 5, and decided to give that a watch. Found out it is only available on the free services. And bonus that Roku’s service is supposed to have ads, but an ad blocker I had previously installed on Firefox manages to seamlessly skip the ads. Might work for the other free services if you are watching on a PC or streaming from PC to a TV.

you laugh but would rather those jobs not been created? 300k/yr to add feet. 200k/yr as a recruiter. 1000$/hr to the lawyers changing the name of the company. 10$/hr under the table for guys to install the new sign. why do you hate america.

I always liked that, plus everyone retires at 45 and everyone gets to eat for free at industrial kitchens. my high school government teacher had us read it and I think it helped me reject capitalism early, thanks nameless teacher I forgot. I kinda wanna just print a ton of copies of it and hand it out, it’s a pretty American socialism that even doesn’t use that word so maybe it’ll work on modern people too A goon pointed out how awesome it would be if people could use school cafeteria kitchens in the evenings to churn out food. But lol they don't even use the kitchen during school hours because it's more effishgunt to just reheat sysco crap and pocket the difference.

corporate profits are a much bigger portion of GDP now than in 2000 so their valuation also being a bigger portion of GDP seems reasonable

Stop at the season 4 finale as that was the intended finale and Season 5 was slapped together after a renewal. I don't know what the official meta of Babylon 5 watching is now but Babylon 5 Seasons 1-4 is solid.
