I’m renting a brand new CX-50 and it’s a really nice car ? Perfect size. Not to busy inside. I think I want to buy one.

I really like the interior of the Ariya, but it's about 50% more expensive than it should be. The captative buttons integrated into the wood grain is something everyone should steal.

That guy seems pretty whiny about how it's not space efficient but it's surrounded by empty space and high enough that the driver doesn't have to look down, much like Mazdas' screen position. I at least appreciate the extra time and effort to make it part of the car's personality and style. Same with Tesla, I weirdly enough don't mind because

There's no hybrid, and I'm nervously anticipating that when Honda does introduce a Civic Hybrid, they're going to duplicate what they did with the Accord and piss off about half of potential buyers. With the updated Accord, you cannot get a base trim with the hybrid engine, and you cannot get a nice trim without the hybrid. It sucks, but Honda has been doing poo poo like this for ages, part of the reason the Civic failed our last round of car buying is that you must get a moonroof to get the turbo engine, and I am a card carrying sunroof hater. Seriously though, aren't most people buying a top-of-the-line Accord buying it as a poor man's sport sedan alternative? Wouldn't those people like a nice non-hybrid engine like the Accord has? Also, aren't a big chunk of hybrid buyers tightwads wanting the cheapest way to cover 100k miles? What the gently caress, Honda.

Mazda needs to show off whatever they are doing to the 2024 Miata. It's apparently getting a facelift with new DRLs and taillights before it gets sent off and reborn as a hybrid.

Will a new hybrid miata still have a manual? I'm not super tied to manual as it doesn't affect my buying decision outside of sports cars, but the miata loses a lot without it. There's also talks about just going fully electric https://arstechnica.com/cars/2023/07/the-next-mazda-mx-5-miata-might-be-an-electric-vehicle/?comments=1&comments-page=1 If they can keep it under 2.5k lbs with a 150-200 mile range, I can see it being pretty cool. But again, just loses a bit.

If they upgrade the infotainment to the current gen, I’ll be really tempted to upgrade from my 2019. And this time around I’ll do the correct thing and get a red one.

Yeah, that's what he means, but I don't grant his premise. No one's saying that, it's a strawman in his head. It IS better than if they'd just replaced the traditional round cluster with a square screen, but not by much.

I would kill for a 100 mile range electric Miata that’s like $15-20k like a super golf cart, just much less dumb than the current super golf cart products on the market. I don’t care the manufacturers are trying to make it “feasible” to jam in a gigantic battery pack and tons of garbage to pump up the MSRP but now I’m just old man yelling at clouds. I saw a vid or gif yesterday that had the original MINI interior morph into the new interior and it was a nearly 1:1 update of it. For what it’s worth there are still physical controls for a number of functions and the regular screen looks like it will pretty functional. Also if you look at the current MINI’s dash, the entire circle being a screen instead of an 8.8” rectangle in the middle of the screen is a way more efficient use of space within the constraints of their corporate design language.

If you’re driving around with a penalty box 4cyl you should at least get phenomenal gas mileage. Outside of the gas mileage I found myself asking why anyone would need anything more than this.

I was born too early. Honestly this is what loving annoys me about EVs, the constant push for range when they're far better an idea for just tootling around doing whatever dumb poo poo jobs you need in daily life. But of course as cars have become more expensive generally they're trying to sell you an EV as your only car and the outliers among us who do more than 50 miles a day are the people the companies are aiming for so range goes up, weight goes up and cost goes up and you end up having to buy much more car than you need. It's so wasteful. If we're doing EVs as a thing there needs to be more bog-standard stuff available, fun little things to courier yourself around in day to day rather than 2+ ton of battery and mild steel with 400+ miles of battery you don't get anywhere near using the capacity of. *edit: and before anyone starts, the 'just in case' lot are the reason why the car industry sucks. They sell you what they tell you that you need rather than what you actually do. Olympic Mathlete fucked around with this message at 09:57 on Jul 22, 2023 |
