A fiat dollar wasn’t exactly a disaster either for the US, I would say the end of history was a bigger deal.

As for a Bancor, it could work, it just you need strict limits on BRICOR supply and surplus/deficits between states. It is simply that the US was so strong after the war they could just force everyone to use USDs, and China really doesn’t seem interested in forcing the RMB for a pretty wide variety of reasons.

keynes was the one that proposed using the dollar after the americans proposed the scarce currency clause

bretton woods is funny because the primary concern after Keynes' ICU plan died was "what if not enough dollars" with the post-war reality being "oh god too many dollars"

Strauss-Kahn was first an activist member of the Union of Communist Students,[15] before joining in the 1970s the Centre d'études, de recherches et d'éducation socialiste (Center on Socialist Education Studies and Research, CERES) led by Jean-Pierre Chevènement, future presidential candidate at the 2002 election.[15] There, he befriended the future Prime Minister of France Lionel Jospin (PS). After the election of President François Mitterrand (PS) in 1981, he decided to stay out of government. He got involved in the Socialist Party (PS), which was led by Lionel Jospin, and founded Socialisme et judaïsme ("Socialism and Judaism"). :ussr:

i feel like the US department of economy warlocks who implemented it would take the unstable system where they crush the USSR and are the hegemon for 50 years over having a diminished military projection capability and all that comes with that

but they were designing it to be stable and therefore failed. also theres also the whole economic collapse of the 1970s that BW is partially responsible for that i'm sure nixon et al would have like to avoid

the linkages between nixon and bretton woods are hilarious and fascinating. he started his first congressional campaign the same day the savannah conference started (or ended i forget which exactly) which inaugurated the IMF. then when he's vice president, eisenhower has to start tightening monetary policy because the market price of gold is slipping away from the treasury's $35/oz price which causes recessions in 1958 and 1960. nixon will blame these recessions (along with kennedy cheating) for his 1960 election loss. then when he becomes president the whole system blows up in his face and prevents him from being the foreign policy president he wanted to be.

yeah there was a notion that the US basically thought things would be "good times forever USA #1 for 1000 years" with the bretton woods system but then it started to unravel when the french demanded their gold and sent a warship to NYC to get it

An oil crisis was going to cause a imbalance of payments regardless btw.

The Bretton/post-Bretton system just ran its course over generations, the US just blew it.

the 1970s was really just the perfect economic storm: energy crises, currency wars, a crisis of overproduction from the post-war boom ending. It’s really a decade that should get the same attention the 1930s do

Answer: Homosexuality is a normal sexual orientation. China has already deleted homosexuality from the mental illness category. According to statistics there should be roughly 4 million gay party members.

Wang Yi going back to his old job, despite old age...

Also is there an simple replacement for twitter? I can't deal with this poo poo.

edit, actually the central bank governor replacement is normal age retirement.

No I don't mean a personal social media platform, I mean an easy copy and paste thing to repost news on SA forum.

Right now posting a wsj or nyt news link doesn't comes with any photo. I guess posting a link and a corresponding youtube video is one viable option.
