Hobbs told a very fun story about his Honda dealership experience in his Dinner With Racers episode. Ran into somebody who helped mechanic the Honda F1 car he drove in the 1960s when on a dealer trip to Japan in the 1980s.

So the most passionate fans here don't really want it to succeed. We want to be able to watch it and wink knowingly at follow Eurofans as we look down on noses and sneer at American sports.

I like European sports cause I can watch them Sunday morning and then go enjoy the rest of my day. They need to stop bringing races to the US for that reason.

who knows whether the Vegas one will happen, liberty is apparently trying to get the casinos to pay extra because they overlook the strip or else they'll put up a bunch of spotlights and lasers and poo poo to make it impossible to look at from their properties. That all said I wish both combatants the best

Is Vegas anticipated to be a success, or is it likely that blocking the strip off really hits the casino income for three days and it never runs again?

At least the broadcast directors have come down with it, too. Because during Sir Lewis's reign, we were often stuck watching the #blessed one drive off into the distance, instead of whatever more interesting things might've been happening further back. The coverage has been a lot better in that respect this year.

I really don't give a flying gently caress about the midfield battle because it's got no bearing on who's going to win the championship. If it was competitive enough that the red Bull could only manage 6th or something at some tracks and that played into it that would be one thing but somebody finishing 7th one race is going to have zero impact on who wins either championship so it's all quite boring in my opinion

I'm pretty sure the only positive anybody can legitimately take from Red Bull having a comparative space ship from the rest of the field is that Sergio Perez has been hilariously loving poo poo in a car that is a nailed on race winner. The midfield has been interesting to watch because anybody mildly aware of how F1 works is thinking what the gently caress is this clown doing fighting through the midfield - FOR loving POSITION - in a Red Bull??
