It's not really my genre, but I like these guys. It's just so disgusting, belchy, gurgly, murky and nasty sounding.

You may be thinking of Choronzon, see the notes here: https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Choronzon/4442

quote:

NOTE: Choronzon began as two separate and entirely unrelated bands with the same name: the eastern Choronzon was a Florida based black metal-styled band formed in 1986 by P. Emerson Williams, while its western counterpart Choronzon was the San Francisco old school industrial project of Demitria Monde Thraam formed in 1989. In 2002, the two respective Choronzons became aware of each other via the internet, and agreed to share use of the name. Then, they decided to go even further and collaborate musically since 2004.

I'm trying to find a metal preset kit in battery. I thought the kit titled "swedish" sounded promising, like scandanvian death metal drums, but no it was an abba inspired kit

Nice!

I've found that I enjoy the instrumental releases of their album much more than the ones with their singer (and, specifically, their lyrics). I feel bad for the guy, but I'd be the rear end in a top hat requesting them to play their instrumental set…

I didn't see anyone mention it in the last few pages but the lead guitarist from Allegaeon and the bassist and drummer from Havok are in a fusion band and they slap extremely loving hard:

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mljzdsULV8T-IZoqQlHQZohdXf7AEzroE

Full album drops tomorrow and I'm super stoked. I can never have too much Nick Schendzielos in my life.

I think I've said this before about this band, but if someone told me this was Quo Vadis's Defiant Imagination lineup, there's a good chance I'd believe them

A healthy amount of influence from the second Gordian Knot album thrown in here. I kinda wish the guitars were a little less metal but it works most of the time

I was looking up reviews of the Outer Heaven album and found this on Pitchfork: “a minute into album highlight “Rotting Stone/D.M.T.,” sublimely cheesy harmonized twin guitars soar like F-150s over a county fair” and I can’t tell if that’s creative writing or a typo.
