They made some toys but they weren’t a big priority compared to the white base trio. Iirc one of the leading theories of why the original doan’s island ep is Like That is because the clover reps did an end-run around tomino to order an episode that was focused on the zaku so they could move more zaku toys, which is why the zakus in that ep are off model in a way that makes them look more like the toy designs than the animation ones.

I’ve been getting more into Gundam since Witch from Mercury ended because I enjoyed it quite a bit. Watched the Origin, MSG movies and Unicorn OVAs. Enjoyed them all well enough, would echo most of the sentiments about Unicorn from the past couple pages about characters and plot (mostly) bad, themes good. None of the music has really stood out to me so far other than a couple in-universe pieces playing in the background and the Yama tracks at the end of Witch. Please share any good original gundam music. Is there a reoccurring gundam “theme”? Looking forward to watching the stuff mentioned in OP.

There really isn't an overarching musical "theme" to all of Gundam. The most you'll get is occasional callbacks to some of the more notable 0079 songs in The Origin but the franchise is so big and so many composers have worked on it that it is more common for shows to have their own musical identities than a franchise-wide identity. ^i'm mad i forgot about that one checking through some series again because work is dull, i'm pretty fond of: -mineva's theme in unicorn -specifically the second part of 5th mov in unicorn -gallant char from the original MGS is great -i forgot about gundam thunderbolt gently caress gundam thunderbolt's soundtrack is amazing (main theme) -oh god i'm alone is probably a good representative track of the other half of thunderbolt's soundtrack -i very much appreciate the original build fighters' soundtrack (fellini's theme) -ibo's first ED is great

I love how understated and 70s the 0079 music is. Gallant Char isn't particularly catchy or overwhelming or anything it's just groovy and when you hear it you know.....that boy is in the Zone......
