been trying out the vegan steak burgers from m&s. i don't know how to use the grill on my oven (all the dial symbols have been eroded of course) so i fried it instead. a bit tough with that method, but very filling. need to try out a little peppercorn sauce to make them really pop.

Has anyone here done any family research before? Especially when it comes to war records of service during WW2. I'm on a two week Italian backpacking tour and the main focus was her great uncle who died in Cassino, he was buried in the Commonwealth graveyard in the town below the Abbey. It got me thinking of my own family history along with trying to find out a little more about hers.  A very sombre place especially with a connection that both our relatives fought here but sadly hers didn't survive the battle. The Polish cemetery was something else, along with the memorial on 593   View from the moment.

Some of the DNA sites have searches of military records available, I seem to recall we were able to trace one of my granddads via one of the military sites (not a DNA site). History is replete with people who thought their participation in horrific wrongs was perfectly normal. Many of them go on believing that after the fact too, telling themselves that they obviously weren't complicit, it was other, more seriously involved people who were to blame. Which is why I try, and I expect other people to try, as well, to be aware of those historical patterns and place at least your personal conduct and thoughts directly in opposition to them.
