Politico posted:My mom made it clear, never allow someone to be disrespectful to you. That woman disrupted a meeting where all the participants were acting respectfully and cordially to get their issues heard,” Adams said during the interview. “She disrupted that, and then she was degrading on how she communicated with me. I’m not going to allow civil service to be disrespected, and I’m not going to be disrespected as the mayor of this city. Dude doubled down and is posting through it.

The Secret Hand Behind the Women Who Stood by Cuomo? His Sister.quote:The menacing posts began cropping up on Twitter last September just hours after a former aide to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York sued him over sexual harassment claims. Wonder how many estranged parents are in that group. By the way, mindbogglingly this was shared by the very same group: https://twitter.com/WeDecideNewYork/status/1688647516265267200

Tulip posted:My theory is that the mayor does not in fact have that much power and actually kind of sucks if you want to exercise power over the life of NYers, so only absolute loving morons even go for it. i think it's true in the political aspirational field, no mayors go anywhere after running NYC. But it's undeniable that the few policies this administration actually enacted have made life measurably worse for NYers, the main offenders I can think of rn being 1) bringing back stop and frisk & the plainclothes NYPD unit 2) allowing NYPD to forcefully hospitalize people for mental health right off the street as long as they look poor 3) de facto ending the universal preK program started by the previous admin by not renewing hundreds of contracts w/ school centers across the city 4) fighting tooth and nail to force city retirees onto Medicare advantage I think expanded policing budgets+OT was inevitable, no admin is gonna meaningfully fight that in the current political structure. But he definitely escalated the stripping of social services in some key ways, and probably wants to do more in his term based on his general connections to real estate+charter school freaks.

In Training posted:i think it's true in the political aspirational field, no mayors go anywhere after running NYC. It's less visible but he's broadly downsizing city government. Buildings is a real issue, it's so short staffed it cannot perform basic functions, which of course does outrageous damage to the city even on liberal metrics like gdp growth. He's limited on how much damage he can do to MTA but if sanitation collapses, hoo boy.

lol a building I have to visit regularly as part of work has had one of it's elevators out of service forever waiting for a dept of buildings inspection and sign off. It's incredibly inconvenient and recently the remaining elevator is failing regularly due to the extra load, effectively stranding people that can't use the stairs. I didn't connect the delay to current city admin budget shenanigans, that's wild.
