Patriots, Colts, Titans, Bengals are 4 of the top 5 AFC teams with plenty of 2024 cap space. Texans are the 5th (2nd most) but I think they might wait until Stroud develops to start going all-in.

Bears have a shitload of cap space and this might be the season Fields finally takes a step forward. Bears and 49ers also don't play each other this season.

The Ravens unfortunately have less than $1M of cap space next season.
Fields should get better especially with DJ Moore to throw to.

Yeah, that tracks I guess. Dude had a weird pair of careers, from pass rush specialist to elephant linebacker. Career leader in playoff sacks too

Playoff sack leader is one of those stats that you'd think would be pretty obtainable and interesting, but I can't recall ever being mentioned by anybody

16 - Willie
14.5 - Bruce Smith
13.5 - Frank Clark
12.5 - Terrell Suggs
12 - Reggie White
11 - Dwight Freeney, Charles Haley, James Harrison, Clay Matthews, LaMarr Woodley
10.5 - Von Miller, Richard Dent

There are people that dont think Suggs is a first ballot hall of famer

The bears didn't have a top 3 pick, traded away or not, between 1972 and 2017. Now it's routine. Maybe the Steelers can end up like this too

Suggs absolutely is worthy of it I just don't think he'll get in first year. Congrats if he does

Brian Urlacher was an elite pass coverage linebacker who was the face of one of the defining defenses on the 00s

Zach Thomas was a liability who only got in because of narrative

Oof nope.

One of them had a reputation amongst coaches and elite QBs for being one of the first MLBs to manage defensive calls, and the other was Urlancher who WAS fast in video games so I get it. Urlacher even said as much, and 7 all-pros aren't too shabby either. Before you time I think.

It is a little odd even if they've always been pretty good or at least middlingly bad now and then that they haven't lucked their way into some trade where they ended up with a top 5 pick in all of those years.

Thomas was fantastic for his era even though he's just a two down LB. Urlacher was an undersized LB that was good in coverage and relied on cleaning up other people's tackles + generous box scores for his tackle count.

who are some players who will make themselves hofers with a good season? i've got to believe davante adams will do it. 13 touchdowns and 1400 yards will see him reaching 100 TDs and 11,000 yards on his career. that's a little low on yards but only 10 players have caught 100 touchdowns and all of them are in the hall of fame except for larry fitzgerald who will be eligible in a couple years and antonio gates who is eligible next year. you have to get down to 85 touchdown receptions before there's anyone who won't be getting in. jimmy graham and hines ward. i'm a little bit surprised jimmy graham did that much. who are some potential newly minted hofers if they do good this year? hall of famers. don't list people who are already going to be in like aaron rodgers or pa trick mahomes.

This is oddly funny. I didn't know who Matt Corral was because I don't recall the name, but he was drafted in the 3rd round last year, and then got a lisfrank injury during preseason in a game against... the Patriots.

So, in a game against the Patriots, Matt Corral got a bad foot injury. The next year, he was waived by his team, and the Pats went "Hey, remember when that guy got injured a year ago? Let's sign him!"

I have no idea what's going on.

Veteran, Bermuda Triangle Expeditionary Force, 1993-1952

Brandon Aiyuk, 49ers.

He's been putting up good numbers in seasons where we had playoff success. If he helps get the 49ers to the Super Bowl, those numbers will go a long way to making his HoF case. He'll still need the long-term productivity to get in, but he'll eventually be in consideration if he contributes to an SB run in the next year or two.

He's got that jacket in his sights, getting there is up to him.

I'm not sure who I was expecting to appear on this list but Aiyuk was not among them. Not saying he sucks. He's good! But he's also been in the league 3 seasons and they've been... fine?

If I cheat and use this PFR page it's Hopkins and Tyreek. Also Antonio Clown would have been a shoe in if he didn't light his legacy on fire. No active RB seems particularly close.

Kelce obviously.

If Russ has a miracle turnaround under Payton and wins another Super Bowl he could get there

Henry might have a case if he has a big year but the wheels have to come off eventually.

CMC might have a case if he doesn't keep dying in San Francisco like he did in Carolina too I suppose.

Rb is just gonna be tough for guys going forward though I think.

I think if Russ has a major bounce back he could make the case that last year was just bad coaching and not being recovered from his injury.

It's hard to say what the criteria for a RB are these days because traditional HOF RB stats are basically impossible for a modern back, but what about CMC? What would he have to do?
