Think poster means Kupyansk area. UA hammered four advances a few weeks back. One advance did capture some stuff but it's been retaken. Day to day, Russia is actually moving forward but we are talking a few metres per day at best. You're not hearing anything because very little is happening but Russia is inching forward.

bratwurst massage posted:Do they think a drone just bounces off when hit? My understanding is the water-filled tires can help mask the plane’s heat signature. There’s apparently this missile that flies to the target area by gps and then tries to acquire a target by referencing the shape of a heat signature against an internal database and locking on if there’s a match. The tires could be a low-cost way to somewhat combat that.

I'm skeptical about the effectiveness of this camouflage because I think the tires don't hide the contours of the plane at all.

Why not just put the plane in a big tent or something

Use bedsheets. Russian military has poo poo the bed so thoroughly that their sheets have a kind of brown camo pattern

I don't know for sure but this doesn't seem to logically make sense. The sun will heat those water filled tires up eventually just like it will the plane and water retains heat for a long time vs aluminum or steel. Might actually make things more dangerous for those planes if the drones are sent in at night. The outer edges are the defining features for these planes too and they don't have the tires on them. Just the center portion or wings. So I don't see how what you're saying would work out either way. If it did they'd be using heat resistent tarps instead of tires right? They already have those for some of their tanks.

Well it turns out that the geo-location of the Russian drone crashing in Romania was accurate. Romania says it doesn't think it was intentional which it probably wasn't. But isn't that like saying "Well Russia was aiming at Ukraine but hit us instead. Whoopsies I guess!"

I think we'll keep covering up anything short of a full invasion in order to avoid having to actually actually confront russia directly in any way. Whoops our base full of F-16s just blew up, must've been swamp gas!
