Anything like that you can snap a picture and submit it to iNaturalist. TBH I'm not 100% sure how I'm supposed to use the app, I just submit a picture labelled as whatever it suggests it is and then come back an hour or two later to find several internet strangers have either corrected me or confirmed my guess.

There was some gigantic motherfucker with at least a 3 inch legspan on my kitchen wall the other day I made my wife catch and release it at the end of the street to try and make sure it couldn’t find its way back I don’t even know if spiders can do that but I wasn’t about to take any chances

Spiders can definitely navigate the distance of a street. I reckon they can hold grudges too but I don't have any evidence. You'll just have to hope I'm wrong.

Dogchat: For me it's essentially the exact same as gunchat. "I'm a responsible gun owner, why can't I have an arsenal of AR-15s just because some people have misused theirs?" It's because we're living in a society, and the desire of an individual to have a massive bred-for-combat dog with no proper checks is outweighed by the negative impact (both physical and psychological) that it has on the general populace. These dogs have been bred to scare the poo poo out of people, and allowing any old 'ard man to buy one is insane. There are at least three houses in our neighbourhood where they have massive aggressive dogs, where I've seen the owner clearly unable to control them on walks, and one of them barking at you is so clearly different than a little yappy dog doing so. It's like saying that a kid shouting "I'm going to kill you!" is the same as some roidmonkey shouting it at you. Or like saying that someone concealed-carrying a pistol is the same as someone walking the streets with a visible assault rifle. There are certain breeds that have clearly been bred specifically to scare the gently caress out of people, and they shouldn't be available to purchase regardless of specific bite stats. It's not about big Vs small either, St Bernards are massive but have not been bred for intimidation. The whole "people should just love dogs coming up and jumping on them" brigade...I mean where do you even start with how self-centred and small-minded that belief is? You're basically saying "gently caress neuroatypical people, gently caress anyone from areas like India and the middle east where the only dogs you see are wild or attack dogs: everyone should just get over it because I'm too lazy to take the five seconds to leash my dog". I say all of the above as a nature lover and a dog lover. I love the fact that the UK has off-lead dog parks and for me, I love when a dog I don't know comes and jumps up on me. And it is because of that love that I want to see the ownership of certain breeds severely limited.

The problem with dog chat is that cat owners feel the need to join the conversation due to their jealousy that they picked an animal inferior to a dog.

Also it doesn't have anything to do with ND people. I don't want a big dog jumping on me and sometimes I do, but the owners can't tell that at a distance so maybe don't have your dog lunge at people?? If your dog is well trained enough to not do that off lead, and not to disturb the rivers with chemicals or the local wildlife it's probably fine, but that's not the typical off lead dog experience.
