Part 126: Episode 5, Day 2, Trial: Contradicting Perspectives There's one clear lie here that explains a lot of oddities with Angel Starr's testimony. What is significant about this fact? Pointless to lie... I see! Sound: Realization It would mean... Sound: Drama Pound A different location!? Now that's a pointless lie if I ever heard one! Sound: Objection Sound: Objection ...That one could've been worded better, Phoenix. quote:She's lying about what she saw, but not with respect to the phone call that we're currently discussing. quote:Saying that Ms. Starr is lying about the order of events could work, but doesn't really make sense with everything else we know so far. Music: Silence Sound: Gavel Let me ask a question to our clever wordsmith, Mr. Wright. Music: Logic and Trick (All the testimony we've heard until now points in one direction...) Watch out for the penalty here... Only this location makes any sense out of Ms. Starr's testimony. Sound: Desk Slam This is the only place where she could have been. Sound: Realization quote:Choosing the area near the telephone, behind the partition, is a valid answer, but... quote:Any other location gives a generic failure: Music: Silence The security guard room? Sound: Light Bulb Not in this case, Your Honor. Sound: Realization Sound: Objection We must be assuming the elevated view of the security room allowed Ms. Starr to see over the partition. Though Lana's back would've still been to the witness, and the stabbing itself would have been obscured as a result. Music: Suspense I remember in your testimony, you said... Sound: Realization Sound: Desk Slam Well, Ms. Starr? Sound: Drama Pound ... To think that the tables could be turned... Today, a man has got the better of Angel Starr! Sound: Realization Sound: Gallery Sound: Gavel Order! Order! Witness! Sound: Whack I'm not turning back. The guilty will be punished. (The guilty... is she talking about Ms. Skye...?) Why did Ms. Starr lie? It doesn't make sense! Sound: Realization Huh? It wouldn't change anything! Sound: Light Bulb Exactly! Now there's a thought. How did she get a picture from this angle, if she was in the security room? Sound: Desk Slam Music: Silence That truth still stands! Sound: Drama Pound It "still stands"? I disagree, Mr. Edgeworth. Wh-what!? Sound: Light Bulb That might be the game's first real acknowledgment that perjury is a thing. With the way all these witnesses blatantly lie about everything, I wasn't real sure. She wouldn't risk that without a good reason! Sound: Gavel So, tell us what her reason was, Mr. Wright! ... Huh? M-me? Sound: Light Bulb Who else!? Sound: Whack Music: Logic and Trick Another penalty here. It's a bit of a short update (I'll try for a longer one next time), but this prompt is a good one for some more audience input. Well? What difference makes the difference?

Oh, I just remembered. Someone was playing Ace Attorney 3, and I shared with them the beta designs for Phoenix, Edgeworth, Maya, Grossberg, and Mia. Upon closer inspection, Maya's beta design looks like Ema, which makes her feeling like budget Maya at the start of this case all the more funny. She's gone full circle!

Well, the character concepts are "Attorney, Prosecutor, Assistant, Mentor, and Detective" respectively, so I don't know if that's Edgeworth per se. But considering they're concepts for the first game, I suppose you could also say it is him. I am glad they changed him, though, because he does look a bit too Snidely Whiplash to take seriously.

But considering they're concepts for the first game, I suppose you could also say it is him. Those are extremely first draft designs, and I think it was pretty early in the process that they decided that the prosecutor would work a lot better as a rival and childhood friend than as a straight up villain. That particular design clearly evolved into Manfred von Karma, and Edgeworth was introduced later, so it would actually be fair to say it isn't proto-Edgey.

Part 127: Episode 5, Day 2, Trial: Blood Now there's an interesting result. You'd think the angle would be the most important, given the different perspectives between the security room and B Block, but remember that Angel Starr did take a photo from B Block, so she was there at some point. The distance is therefore more important here. Music: Silence Sound: Desk Slam I don't see how that would change what she could see. We've got him hooked. What she saw is not in question here. Sound: Realization ...! Sound: Light Bulb Ms. Starr! You witnessed the crime from the security guard station! Now, how long did it take you to go from there... Sound: Objection quote:The different angles, I think, is a better option than the right answer here. I still don't really see how Ms. Starr could have seen the murder clearly from behind Lana, up in the security room. But the game doesn't agree: quote:Saying that the lighting is important is the joke option here. Music: Suspense ... Well, witness? You... Y-yes...? Sound: Light Bulb You ordered the Squid Wheels, right? Sound: Realization (The quality of my lunches has gone from low to inedible.) Sound: Whack Are those rubber bands on there? Or is that really supposed to be food? That dish doesn't really look like squid. I really don't get Ms. Starr's business model. Why does she have such horrible lunches? Why is she apparently giving all her lunches away? Hmm... Boysenberry for the boyfriend! Sound: Light Bulb He wasn't in the station, so I waited. and before I knew what I was doing, I found myself running towards the scene. But... the door was locked. I couldn't open it. It is a long distance from the security room back to B Block, and then from there over the fence into A Block. That's why I had to go through the visitor's parking in B Block. That's quite a detour. Sound: Realization F-f-f-five minutes!? Sound: Light Bulb Sound: Gallery That's a long time for anything to have happened in that parking garage. And why would Lana have stuck around that whole time? How sure are we even that it was still the same person in the parking garage and not someone else that did the stabbing and left? Hmm... This changes things considerably! Music: Silence Sound: Objection Nothing you say is believable at this point. Evidence of someone finding the body five minutes after whatever you supposedly witnessed. Sound: Drama Pound You have a point. And the spork is a wonderful invention. Would you like another Caviar Lunch...? Sound: Realization Absolutely! Sound: Light Bulb (Uh oh...) Music: Suspense Mr. Wright! You have to do something! I'm honestly not sure what exactly we'd be objecting to at this point, but there's no penalty here so let's wait and see what happens. (I think I need more evidence before I go sticking my spork in this mess...) Sound: Stab Mr. Wright! The only thing that's left... Is your strong presence and deft powers of deduction! Sound: Whack ...! Sound: Light Bulb quote:Choosing to object right away just skips the prior scene and moves on straight ahead below. Sound: Desk Slam Music: Silence Sound: Drama Pound Uh, good attempt on the food reference, I guess? Sound: Realization A five minute "blank"... Isn't that strange!? Strange...? If you were a criminal... What would you do with five minutes, Your Honor? Sound: Realization Sound: Light Bulb An interesting triple-sprite panel. D-don't get the wrong idea! I didn't kill anyone... Sound: Stab 2 Sound: Stab Sound: Desk Slam But you have the instincts of a killer! You would run! But this time was different! Sound: Objection Y- Sound: Damage 2 Sound: Stab 2 Sound: Gallery Sound: Gavel Music: Trial Really? We just have to take everything else Ms. Starr said at face value at this point? Lana stabbed Goodman and who cares about the rest? The witness has a grudge against the defendant, and a blank in her testimony. quote:Rerelease note! The original line here was: "She has a grudge against the defendant, and there is a blank in her testimony." I guess a later release corrected a vague pronoun reference? The new line does seem better. ...! Sound: Light Bulb Another witness? And we're just learning about this person now? It seemed like this trial day was about over. Unfortunately... Edgeworth, not prepared for every eventuality? He's slipping. Sound: Light Bulb Okay, I guess the trial day is over. I think we're still missing something, though. Ms. Starr being up in the security room doesn't really change anything we thought we knew about the crime itself. (Th-that was too close!) Sound: Gavel Music: Silence And with that, court is adjourned! Sound: Objection Okay, I should have expected an interruption there. What now? Sound: Shock 2 x 5 Mr. Edgeworth, you ordered the Squid Wheels, right? Sound: Realization (That's the one she tried to foist off on me!) Sound: Whack I... might be able to save you. I have decisive evidence. Sound: Realization Wh-what was that!? Sound: Light Bulb (Is this another one of her trick lunchboxes!?) Didn't we just play this game with the photo? She was hiding multiple pieces of evidence? Even the judge is done with this lady, if he doesn't even care what other evidence she's going to pull out of that bottomless bag of hers. Ah... Is this your jumbo lunchbox? Sound: Redd Bling ...I did not expect that sound effect to make a comeback. Sound: Objection Sound: Gavel Out of deference to the lunch bribes you keep taking, you mean. Let's hear about this decisive evidence. Like the Lunchland motto says, you won't be disappointed! Sound: Testimony 2 Music: Questioning - Allegro Sound: Realization Two types of blood were found on this shoe! Sound: Light Bulb One was of course the victim's. Sound: Objection quote:Another changed line! The original: "And the other was...! The defendant, Ms. Lana Skye's blood!" That one's a bit awkward, I can see why they changed it. This shoe proves it! It's flawless, decisive evidence! Music: Silence I don't know about that. We already knew that Lana had injured her hand, though I don't think it has come up in court yet. By itself this shoe doesn't prove any more than the photo did, that Lana was there after the murder. Wh-what!? There was blood found on that shoe!? Sound: Stab 2 Sound: Realization Sound: Gallery [url=] Sound: Objection Witness, what's the meaning of this? Because she hates prosecutors and you in particular, didn't we go over this already? Simple. As I've already said... That's why I took the liberty of investigating this myself. And... you had blood tests performed? Didn't I mention? I have three boyfriends in forensics. Sound: Realization Sound: Desk Slam Sound: Objection Music: Suspense What...? Sound: Realization You must know the two rules of evidence law! quote:Original line: "You should know the two rules of evidence law, Ms. Starr!" Kind of a wash on this one. These are some convenient made-up rules that certainly never applied to any evidence we introduced in the game thus far. I haven't really seen any kind of rules holding back prosecutors, either. I-is that right, Mr. Wright!? How would Phoenix know, anyway? He's never read any of those books of his. I'm more interested in that second rule of evidence; they wouldn't be bringing up this topic for no reason. Not so fast, Mr. Edgeworth. Sound: Realization ...! Sound: Light Bulb As I mentioned previously... Even the general public can produce official evidence, Mr. Edgeworth. Sound: Light Bulb Haven't seen this face in awhile. Edgeworth's reaction and the suspensful music is kind of odd here. Shouldn't Edgeworth be a little happier or more accepting about new evidence? Is his conflict with Ms. Starr just worth more to him than his passion for winning cases? Is he sensing there is something not right about this new evidence? I don't really get it yet. I-is that right, Mr. Wright!? I do love the parallel and contrast between this line from Phoenix and his previous one. Those are the only two lines from Phoenix since this latest testimony started. You could at least study some evidence law! Really! Sound: Whack Music: Silence Sound: Gavel The prosecution's complaints notwithstanding... However... quote:Original line: "Well..." It seems you have yet another count against you, witness. Anything to ensure that the guilty are properly judged. Sound: Select Jingle Well I can already see where this cross is going to go. We're going to have to deep-examine this new evidence and somehow doing so will reveal a contradiction in the testimony. Sound: Testimony 2 Music: Questioning - Allegro (That's pretty sly, hiding evidence like that!) Sound: Whack In any case, science is always on our side! Don't forget! Scientific investigation is the wave of the future! Sound: Realization Just in case you needed a really obvious hint to go look at that shoe in more detail... Before we start pressing, let's check out that shoe. Some blood spatter here... This blood... It's my sister's, right? It appears so. (She must have cut herself at the time of the crime...) Poor Sis... Not a lot there. But where is the victim's blood supposed to be? On the bottom? AAAH! There's blood here too! Sound: Stab 2 He must have stepped in a puddle of his own blood. All this blood... It's horrible! (Hmm...) I'll assume the forensics report explicitly says which blood on the shoe goes with which individual. Otherwise Phoenix and Ema guessing at it doesn't make a lot of sense. More importantly, there was no pool of blood found at the crime scene. Probably there was one in the trunk, but I don't think the it would have gotten onto the victim's shoe in this pattern in that case. The autopsy report already hinted at this theory with a vague time of death, but we now have some direct evidence that the victim was killed elsewhere and then transported to the parking garage... in Edgeworth's car... I should have mentioned those five minutes when I wasn't looking at the crime scene. We already have what we need, but let's press on everything anyway. Why did you lie about those five minutes? Sound: Realization The... results? How many times do I have to say this? Compared to that... A five minute "blank" means nothing! Sound: Whack Then why didn't you just tell the truth? Don't make me laugh! Sound: Realization Falsified evidence, arranged testimonies, erasing and manipulating evidence... (This when the suspect is admitting she did it?) Let's just get this one over with. quote:The original script did not preface the word "But" two lines ago, and did not include "one" in the previous line. Not all differences are meaningful I suppose. And now, to the matter of the victim's shoe... Did I not bring this up...? And you found this shoe at the scene of the crime? I wanted to make myself useful while I was waiting for the police to arrive. I was afraid someone would erase the chief prosecutor's crime. See this fashionable basket I have here...? It carries more than lunchboxes, gentlemen! Sound: Objection (I'm happy for you and your lunchbox bag, really.) Now, tell us what you did next. Two types of blood were found on this shoe! One was of course the victim's. So, you brought it to the forensics department? To do that, evidence must be analyzed... by a forensics expert. (And she got away with her little coup because she used to be a detective...) Well, the man WAS stabbed, after all. quote:Original line in the DS release: "Makes sense. After all, a man was stabbed here." The revised line does sound more Angel-like. And the other blood type... matched that of the defendant, Ms. Lana Skye! Sound: Desk Slam quote:The original release mistakenly said "victim" instead of "defendant" here. You claim to know something about blood tests, Rookie? Huh... Sound: Realization Music: Silence Well, speak up! Sound: Objection However! Sound: Objection quote:Original line used "performed" instead of "committed". I'm going to omit these minor differences now; safe to say, the original translation or script was not as tight as in the version I'm playing. ... ... ... That's just a figure of speech, Mr. Wright. Sound: Realization Sound: Whack Which means that we can more or less narrow any sample of blood down to just one person! Sound: Whack quote:Previous two lines were originally worded somewhat differently: "Actually, if you combine all the various blood tests, there are millions of types! It's practically impossible to narrow a blood sample down to one person!" Which... is the exact opposite of the revised (and seemingly more correct) line. Or so I hear. Th-that's pretty specific... Sound: Realization Music: Questioning - Allegro But they said there's very little doubt it could be anyone's but Ms. Lana Skye's. Oh good, I was worried the game was mixing up blood tests with DNA tests for a minute there. That ties her directly to the death of Detective Goodman! (I was afraid he was going to say that...) Edgeworth is suddenly all on-board with this evidence now... This shoe proves it! It's flawless, decisive evidence! (I can't let this evidence go through without a fight!) You ordered the Peppered Fish Guts, right? Sound: Realization ...! Sound: Light Bulb Some like it hot, Mr. Wright. A problem...? Sound: Realization Uh, yeah? If I'm not imagining things... Music: Silence Sound: Objection quote:Backing off on a press rarely works, but let's see... That gleam in your eyes... You're still young, Rookie. Sound: Gavel Music: Logic and Trick Let's hear what Mr. Wright has to say! What is contradictory about the victim's shoe? I was expecting a prompt with another multiple-choice question, but instead... We have to pick out something on the shoe itself. While you don't have to have already examined the shoe to get this one right, it does help to have that context, especially with a penalty on this choice. Either of the blood marks on the bottom of the shoe will work here. Music: Silence Sound: Desk Slam Sound: Realization Don't mess with me, Rookie... Sound: Objection quote:No interesting failures here, just a generic few lines if we select anywhere else on the shoe (including Lana's blood spatter). Music: Logic and Trick It makes sense. The victim was stabbed with a knife! Sound: Desk Slam Oh, I was expecting to explain with words, not evidence. Why don't you all give this one a shot?

Blueberry Pancakes posted:Needless to say, evidence law is some bullshit that has never come up before and, by virtue of the fact this case was made after the trilogy, will never come up again. It's pretty rich given this is the same game that gave us the "Updated" autopsy report, and Phoenix himself swiping empty pill bottles and such and no one seeming to care very much. It also kinda highlights how important proper Discovery procedure is, since you'll notice if you take this situation as canon that basically the police and prosecution entirely get to decide what is and isn't important to a case, and the defense (if this worked at all consistently) would have to eat poo poo if they wanted to dispute anything at all about said evidence list.

I just assume that the "evidence must be approved" thing just means you need to run it past someone before you bring it into the courtroom, which Phoenix presumably does in the leadup to each court session. It's about having it on official record rather than it being relevant.

squid comes in rings pretty frequently, if you've never had calamari. the ring shape makes sense when you remember that a squid is basically a tube, so if you take the guts out you're left with basically a ring. as for what's in the lunchbox, it's probably specifically squid jerky, which is a common snack in japan. not really something you put over rice for lunch.

Part 128: Episode 5, Day 2, Trial: Washout Yes, for the third time in this trial day we're using the crime photo. There's a point we're trying to make - where is the blood at the crime scene, for the victim to have stepped in it? And the only evidence making that point for us is this photo that doesn't have any blood on the floor in it. Music: Silence Sound: Desk Slam The... footprint? Sound: Realization Then... isn't it strange? Sound: Drama Pound quote:Wrong answers not accepted: Music: Objection! Ah hah! Sound: Light Bulb As you can see... Sound: Objection Sound: Desk Slam Sound: Objection Sound: Desk Slam Then where are they, Mr. Edgeworth? Because... quote:Original line in the DS release: "If there were bloody prints they would have been found." The new line does seem to fit the confrontation better, but they both lead to the same place. Sound: Objection I do very much enjoy the dueling objections and desk slams. Sound: Gallery Sound: Gavel x 3 We've finally created enough of a brouhaha to be worthy of the triple gavel strike. Order! Order! Order! Well, witness!? Sound: Whack What!? Huh? I, uh... Sound: Light Bulb Great going, Mr. Wright! But... But then we have to ask why there wasn't a footprint! Sound: Realization Oh! Sound: Light Bulb Think, Mr. Wright, think! ... Hey, I don't know why it's not there. Music: Silence Sound: Light Bulb What!? Sound: Whack Sound: Objection Not sure why that outburst from Edgeworth wasn't voiced, but buckle up. I see... Sound: Realization Now I get it! (Get what!?) We were hoodwinked to the very end! Sound: Realization Music: Suspense Wh-what are you talking about? Sound: Light Bulb Sound: Wipe I'll forgive the flashback here because Angel's testimony has been such a dragged-out mess that I don't remember half of it and I have no idea where Edgeworth is going here. Ah, gently caress. Are they going to say the footprint was washed away? Oh, she's beautiful, but deadly! A predator, this one! A leopard woman! Rowr! (No kidding!) Now, witness. Allow me to ask a very simple question. Sound: Realization Objection, leading the witness! Oh, who am I kidding. ... Oh, that, hmm? Sound: Light Bulb I'm not sure I like your attitude, Mr. Edgeworth. Witness! W-well? Sound: Whack Was the oil drum empty...? Sound: Realization Music: Silence W-water? (What does that mean?) Sound: Light Bulb Still don't get it, Mr. Wright? Sound: Drama Pound Aaaa haaaaah! You don't mean...! Sound: Whack Yes, the suspect knocked over that oil drum for one reason and one reason alone! Sound: Desk Slam Sound: Objection Music: Investigation - Core Whaaaaaaaaargh! Sound: Stab 2 So? Why did she hang around for five minutes, then decide only when Angel confronted her to go spill the oil drum? It doesn't make sense. Sound: Gallery Sound: Gavel That ties things up quite nicely! I'm sure there will be some stunning revelation later but so far this trial day isn't really hanging together as neatly as in the other episodes. Then, after the deed was done, she knocked over the oil drum to erase the telltale signs! (That reminds me... Ms. Skye's right hand was hurt...) Sound: Wipe Well... I see no reason to prolong this trial. W-what!? What can I do? Sound: Stab B-but... Music: Silence Sound: Desk Slam Enough. Very well... Sound: Whack She could have been lying about the water! Sound: Whack Sound: Gavel This court, finds the defendant, Ms. Lana Skye... Sound: Objection Sure, another random interruption. I feel like this trial day has gone about one testimony too long or one witness too short. We're seeing the same fake-outs over and over. Sound: Shock 2 x 3 Sound: Wipe Sound: Drama Pound Little girl... What did you just say? Sound: Realization Huh...? M-me? Sound: Light Bulb Seems self-evident to me, but whatever forestalls that guilty verdict a little longer. W-well, yeah, you are! Sound: Desk Slam Well. Sound: Realization Sound: Drama Pound Oh good, more surprise evidence. We're up to, what, three now? Ms. Starr really would make a good prosecutor. Music: Suspense Sound: Desk Slam The time for deliberations is past. Your threats don't scare the Cough-up Queen! Sound: Objection Sound: Wipe Sound: Drama Pound Too bad about that water. At least photographing the crime scene is proper police procedure. Why now is the first time we're seeing a true crime scene photo, on the other hand... A photograph...? that the white shoe didn't belong to the victim! Hmm... I see no room for error in this evidence. Who makes parking garages out of asphalt? Hey! It's clearly wet! Sound: Light Bulb Sound: Objection Sound: Gavel Immediately after the murder, the crime scene was washed with water! I-I'm sorry, Mr. Wright. I'm not. There's no way the water washed away a bloody footprint. The real question in my mind, is what was Lana really trying to wash away when she tipped over that drum? (It's not your fault... I knew I couldn't win this case from the beginning.) (And... it seems this is what your sister wanted anyway!) Time for Serious Contemplation. Sound: Realization ... ... ... Music: Silence Oh fun, Mia's ghost is haunting us even with Maya nowhere in sight. I guess this scene confirms it's really just Wright's own subconscious all along? See now there's a quality pun. Sound: Wipe ...! Sound: Light Bulb Weird note: Mia's ghost text doesn't come with any of the character blips that accompany most other dialogue. The game is completely silent right now. Sound: Wipe Music: Suspense Music: Silence Sound: Gavel Did anyone get a good look at that photo? I was too busy panicking over the water in it. A lengthy pause on a silent gallery... Sound: Shock 2 x 4 Sound: Desk Slam Your Honor, wait! Whatever it is, can it wait? N-no it can't. Then it will be too late! Sound: Stab Sound: Objection Music: Telling the Truth So, Wright... Sound: Realization Maybe, maybe not. Can't I at least look at it for more than a second? Or that. Might as well bluff, Lana's already about to be declared guilty here. Yeah, there's a problem! (Right or wrong, I've got to go ahead with this!) Sound: Gavel Very well, Mr. Wright. Er, well, that was quicker than I expected. There's a penalty coming up, on this photo that we haven't gotten a good look at until now... Luckily I'm not on a timer. A quick look around the photo reveals something interesting here... Sound: Desk Slam The problem in this photograph... is here! Sound: Objection Sound: Light Bulb quote:No interesting wrong answers on this one I'm afraid... Music: Silence Sound: Objection Muffler, you say... Wait just a moment, Mr. Edgeworth! Sound: Whack Your Honor? Sound: Realization I totally called this one when the term first came up. Does the word "muffler" have the same double meaning in Japanese, too? This one seems hard to have localized. ... I see! And... I see! Sound: Light Bulb Sound: Realization Hmph! So what if there is something sticking out of the muffler! Sound: Whack Sorry, Ms. Starr... But it's not going to be that easy! You said as much in your testimony!!! Sound: Realization Music: Suspense Wh-what!? Sound: Light Bulb Sound: Gavel Let's hear what Mr. Wright has on his mind! This one's easy if you thought to check the updated evidence description. After Ms. Starr testified about hearing Lana on her cell phone, the phone's description was updated here. Sound: Desk Slam Music: Silence Ms. Starr! Recall your testimony for the court... quote:Nothing else will work here, of course. Sound: Wipe That's what had me confused in my earlier testimony! Sound: Light Bulb Sound: Realization Music: Suspense Could it be that the "muffler" you heard mentioned... Sound: Wipe Sound: Light Bulb Sound: Desk Slam If so! Music: Silence Sound: Objection Sound: Damage 2 Sound: Whack Sound: Stab 2 These meltdowns were more meaningful when they didn't happen five times in the same trial day. Music: Trial Well... It seems we will have to suspend the proceedings. Sus... Suspend!? Sound: Realization This trial day has been a slog, I'm eager to get back to investigating. I don't really know where to go next though. I think we need to check out that security room still? I guess we go find the cloth at the crime scene, and it'll lead us somewhere else? If we leave any question unanswered here we do a disservice to the law! Maybe we'll have to talk to that cowboy officer to find out about the cloth then. The verdict will wait until after we've seen all the evidence. Agreed...? ... I suppose so. (Whew... that was close.) Sound: Gavel Music: Silence Wait, just thirty minutes? It's lunchtime after all! (He's still hungry!?) Sound: Stab Wait, now I'm confused. Did we finish the trial day or not? Music: Jingle - It Can't End Here Apparently we've finished... something? A peek behind the curtain at my save files reveals the answer. I didn't know what "Trial Former" meant when it started showing up on the save file names with this trial day. However, "Trial Latter" showing up on the current save file makes the meaning a little more clear. These trial days are so long that the game broke them up into multiple segments, and we are only halfway done with this one....

DKII posted:Putting the final touches on tonight's update... Funny story, when I made this post today I had the update ending at picking the evidence about why "muffler" is important, thinking I'd make the trial day wrap-up its own update afterwards. Then I continued playing this afternoon to record more footage for later and discovered that "Trial Former" ended almost right afterward, so I tacked it onto this update. I had no idea that this trial day was going to be so long that the game has two distinct segments for it, or that we were only halfway done with it.... But hey, you get the update a few hours sooner now as a result.

BTW scarfs are 100% called mufflers in Japan. It might actually be the more common word for them in my experience?
