at what point does one become a fascist?

we have posters like Crowsbeak where it’s like yeah you are a nationalist socialist Christian dominionist who wants to put folks in camps and brand them you are clearly a fascist.

But where’s the line? I mean authoritarianism isn’t enough. there’s a case for Stalinism and Maoism and more recently Xi thought.

but I don’t get the unironic Trump stuff. I mean Stephen the loving nazi Miller was a huge influence on immigration during his admin, which somehow you all a giving glumwheels poo poo for observing. it’s detached from reality.

It’s this.

For a certain subset of affluent, privileged boomers, they got to feel like the world was made for them - and it basically was. They are totally unable to conceive of the world outside of their social circle. Like you could try to tell them about the exploitation and violence that made that American post-WWII economic boom possible and either their brains would short circuit and they would immediately rationalize away this information, or they would take it as a personal attack on them.

At least in my experience, this entitlement and self-absorption carries over to their relationships with other people, especially their children. My parents basically view me as their property, and as entitled, conservative-minded people, they cannot conceive of our relationship evolving or changing over time. That seems to me like one of the most beautiful and rewarding parts of having a kid, but idk, guess it helps that my brain wasn’t poIsoned with leaded gasoline fumes, just the anxiety and short attention span of microplastics and the internet.

oh lol, drat anti-PRC'ism would have at least been fun

but no, no one here thinks trump is good. the whole 'trump did x, y, z" is not to show that trump is good but rather that liberals refuse to enact good policy that even a dumbass fascist like trump can walk assbackwards into. neither trump nor biden give a gently caress about unions but at least until the other day only one of them was smart enough to go do a campaign event vaguely near a strike site. but now biden is supposed to do some event in the next day or two to pre-empt trump so whatever.

the whole "the president influences green card processing time" argument was dumb tho. yes who the president does and doesn't put into administrative roles impacts it but theres also a billion other factors, the most important of which is wealth. that gives you a ticket to the fast lane not the president

The only reason he’s doing it is because of the recent articles that came out where union workers torched Trump and Biden (mostly Biden). They’re mostly bigots who think Trump somehow saved them from those horrible immigrants taking their jobs when in reality trumps “deals” hosed them over more.

oh lol he also thought all union members were crypto-chuds. yeah we're going to keep dunking on that dude

Ohio is a red state?

Georgia is a red state? Didn't this one specifically go blue already

Georgia went blue once, but it’s hard to tell if it’s the next Virginia or if it’s just a fluke like NC in 2008. Its state government is also red as heck even if none of Trump’s picked candidates managed to primary them last year.

Ohio hasn’t gone blue since Obungler’s re-election, and imo only because Romney had major “guy who outsourced your job to China and hosed you out of your pension” vibes.

Stuff like small reactors are the corporate equivalent of those rich people climate bunkers in New Zealand. It's based on the idea that enough money will potentially allow you to ride out widescale nation-state level insecurity.

Companies like Microsoft don't trust the US to be a stable place with stable infrastructure and they're betting they can ride things out.
