Seems pointless and like they're playing with fire, but I'm not an executive.

Wga are a bunch of broke writers that nobody outside show super fans pay attention too, sga has big name actors donating to the fund and if they don't show up to a project people notice, just the dumbest strategy

I mean the sentiment is very obviously stupid overall. But I especially zero in on "north of 70k" as wages that can somehow produce bourgeois decadence.

less than they were asking for, but 40’s a tough sell, especially when you’re striking all three automakers at once. lol that ford got there first, though. I bet fain really puts the screws to the other two.

i mean 40% was obviously a fake number, not because it was “too high” but because your initial ask is always a fake number. you ask for more than your target so you can “give something up” in negotiations and still end up at a place you’re happy with. i don’t think I’ve ever in my life heard of a strike that got everything in its initial ask. this is also why the teamsters ratified their contract 86% to 14% even though their raise was smaller than the initial ask. that said the big questions are 1) what else did they get besides top line numbers (including tiers, yes) and 2) what were the rank and file expecting/hoping to get. if the actual tentative agreement is around the spot where those lines cross it’ll be comfortably ratified (and be a big win). e: mpu says tiers gone: https://x.com/MorePerfectUS/status/1717338804682395667?s=20 DAD LOST MY IPOD has issued a correction as of 02:10 on Oct 26, 2023 |
