To wrap himself up in the blanket of things he thinks empowers him, to shield himself. The irony is he thinks this is some incredibly profound experience, because he's so completely alien to himself when its basically a neurological blip. I think its genuinely tragic. And these are the guys microdosing LSD. Think about that for a second.
