Grimey Drawer
You know, even the parents in Dustin are miserable with each other. My mom and I have a rule about movies: if the other person is bored 30 minutes in, we turn it off. But overall we tend to watch what the other picks for movie night because we care about each other and try to pick poo poo the other person enjoys.

And yeah Titanic is a dumb love story but the loving details in everything made it better than most.

Haha, I doubt that Steve Kelley has even seen Titanic. He's probably too insecure to watch anything that resembles a "chick flick".

It's got a historically-biggest-ever giant steel phallus smashing into a floating mountain of ice and splitting in half while hundreds freeze and drown; what the hell does he even WANT if all he's going to say to that is 'ew, kissy romance story.'

I've never seen Titanic but not because it's 'too girlie' but just because I just didn't want to join the crowd when it was out and never wanted to dedicate three hours to seeing it after.

Didn't you mean to ask about flowers?
Titanic is a good movie just for the sheer spectacle and historical time capsule neatness, the actual story involves romance but is pretty interesting past that too.

Nah, I'm going to side with the detestable nerd here. If you knowingly steal somebody's food out of the fridge, even if it's somebody you don't like, that's not a minor transgression and it serves you right if you poo poo yourself for the rest of the day.

Junk Drawer has switched to an every-other-week posting schedule lately, which is too bad. Hopefully Ellis isn't planning to pack it in.

I had a great time reading about Victorian seances. Nobody could be bothered with this stuff now. Victorian society is a hotbed of pastimes from an era before pissing your brief candle away on gentle pursuits had been truly mastered. Lost arts in their hundreds. All that remains is Backgammon and I bet no one remembers how to play it.

This Mental Floss article gives a good summary of most of the tricks Maggie's talking about. It doesn't mention the Pepper's Ghost, but here is a link to the wikipedia article.
