IMHO it'll never be retro. It's the start of the modern era of videogames and unless something crazy happens, I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Negative. PS3 is designed to be online, offers robust media center solutions, and IMHO the PS3/360 era graphics/performance is top notch. Since then all we've really done is increase graphics fidelity for no real gain other than the profits of graphic card makers. I know some people care about every individual blade of grass blowing in the wind, but it really doesn't matter to me.

Online oriented design, robust media center, and high fidelity graphics? Indeed, I also love the original Xbox.

I still remember the rapturous reviews for Alone in the Dark (1992). The graphics are so realistic, how can anything ever be better than this?

Things can be old* without being retro. PS3 games don't, like, look or play significantly different from PS4 or 5 games, they just have fewer polygons/shaders/enemies on screen/etc. For something to be retro it needs to have a separate appeal from current stuff. Can't be retro if it never left style in the first place. Facebook Aunt posted:I still remember the rapturous reviews for Alone in the Dark (1992). I know it's intentionally a troll image, but I'm annoyed that there's only one year separating several of the "ancient gamer" and "old school" games (Angry Birds, MW2, and LoL debuted in 2009, one year after Fallout 3 was released), and one of the "new school" games was released the same year as an "old school" game (Clash of Clans and Black Ops 2 releasing in 2012). Is it too much to ask for consistency in my dumb internet jokes??

i grew up in ohio and they only had one big state run grocery called Food and it was the only place to get “sundries”. i didnt think it was strange at the time that everything had black packaging with white impact labeling until i was smuggled out past the border guards into the indiana territory and saw brands at a walmart. i discuss this often in my ohio survivors group therapy sessions
