I mean, when I was a young man, I remember watching a winner-take-all game on my parents' TV. The Phillies were down 5-2 going into the 8th. Nolan Ryan was on the mound against them. They'd just coughed up a 3-spot in the bottom of the 7th and my childhood nightmares, watching my beloved Phils lose in the playoffs to the Dodgers in '77 and '78 in heartbreaking fashion, were raging in my head. And yet, somehow, I kept the faith. A young man's foolish dream. But I'm old now.
